Add topicRequested texts
[edit]I think it would make sense to include at least one entry from Wikisource:Requested texts per month. Firstly, to get some work done on that page and second to get some eyes on the existence of that page in general. Inductiveload—talk/contribs 23:38, 1 May 2021 (UTC)
- Maybe it would be better if this page could replace Wikisource:Requested texts. Feels like we have a bit too much overlap between different parts of this site. Languageseeker (talk) 04:30, 2 May 2021 (UTC)
- Not sure really, because not everything at WS:RT is a good candidate for "featuring" as a MC text. There is an overlap, certainly, but that's kind of a feature rather than a bug. E.g. MC texts a explicitly team efforts, and people might want to pick up RTs as a solo project. Also MC has a de-facto upper rate limit, whereas RT has no such limit.
- But we should:
- If MC becomes a "thing", mention at WS:RT that people requesting at WS:RT also consider nominating for MC
- As I said at Wikisource talk:Monthly Challenge, have a reserved slot for at least one RT text to show a request some love (it's very rare that a request is actually proofread by anyone other than the requester). Inductiveload—talk/contribs 22:23, 8 May 2021 (UTC)
Walk-through, please
[edit]@Languageseeker: I am not sure what to do to add a title to the list. I would like to nominate Index:Colonization_and_Christianity.djvu as it is a reference in Marx’s Das Kapital that I have almost finished proofreading. I would like to work through the references; there are quite a few available. Cheers, Zoeannl (talk) 08:12, 23 October 2021 (UTC)
- @Zoeannl: You generally post the Nomination here Wikisource:Community collaboration/Monthly Challenge/Nominations. If chosen, then I or somebody else will add it to the appropriate data file, such as Module:Monthly Challenge/data/2021-11. I added this work for next month. Languageseeker (talk) 21:10, 23 October 2021 (UTC)
- Sorry, I actually need "how to post" instructions. Do I just paste the link below the text in the Nominations section? What do you mean by creating a "separate section"? Do I put a header in like
- ====Colonization and Christianity====
- Index:Colonization_and_Christianity.djvu
- "Colonization and Christianity" William Howitt 1838
- or an indented
- "Colonization and Christianity" William Howitt 1838 Index:Colonization_and_Christianity.djvu
- ?
- Yes, I really do struggle with wiki ways. Zoeannl (talk) 21:26, 23 October 2021 (UTC)
- @Zoeannl: No worries at all. We all do at some point. You basically got it. You would post
- ====Colonization and Christianity====
- I nominate Index:Colonization_and_Christianity.djvu for X reasons.
- below the existing text. Languageseeker (talk) 21:37, 23 October 2021 (UTC)
- I checked and this work was run through PGDP, but the files have been archived. So, it's not possible to a match-and-split unless you happen to have the Concatenated Text file somewhere. Languageseeker (talk) 21:13, 23 October 2021 (UTC)
Archiving
[edit]It seems SpBot archived a lot of topics yesterday following my change to the autoarchive template parameters on the Nominations page; some of which shouldn’t have been archived at all. A lot were archived to the wrong place; all went to 2021 but a lot should’ve gone to 2022 instead. I’ve created a blank page for 2022 archives, but I’m not sure what to do to make sure it works correctly. Can someone have a look? @Inductiveload:, @Languageseeker:, @Beeswaxcandle: Ciridae (talk) 09:19, 26 April 2022 (UTC)
- @Ciridae: It's based on the level of the section headings. The 2021 section (at level 2) had a "Works" heading (level 3), in which the nominations were contained (as level 4). The bot was set to archive at level 4. But from 2022 the "Works" heading was missing, so the sections below were at level 3 rather than 4, and thus nothing was ever eligible for archiving. When you changed the bot config to level 2, the bot faithfully archived every level 2 section within which it found a "section resolved" tag (even if it was within a subsection). That is, it considered "2021 nominations" and "2022 nominations" as eligible for archiving, and since "2022 nominations" contained multiple subsections tagged as "resolved" it went ahead and archived it. I've reverted the incorrect archiving; dropped the intermediate level 3 "works" section, so the individual noms are now level 3; and configured the bot to archive from level 3. - @Xover: Thanks for fixing my mess and for the explanation. Makes sense now. Ciridae (talk) 16:10, 26 April 2022 (UTC)
