Portal Namespace

[edit]

Proposed changes in bold. Sometimes scans can and should be made, even if they aren't already uploaded, and this would be sufficient proof:

  • Red links can be used to list works on a subject or from a publisher that could be added but that do not yet exist.
    • With portals, it is especially important to include external links to show that the work exists, that it is in the public domain (for example from a US Government website, or from a repository of ancient texts) and that a scan can be made so that the work could be added to Wikisource. Otherwise, portals could soon fill up with red links with no indication as to whether any of the linked works as plausible or possible for addition to the library.

Oppose This is at odds with current community sentiment being expressed in WS:DEL discussions. (1) We do not want user-created PDFs from websites. (2) We do not need this level of detail about scans on a page primarily concerned with red-links. WS:WWI is our policy page concerning what can be hosted. --EncycloPetey (talk) 00:13, 14 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
