Identifying

[edit]

@Beleg Tâl:

We know:

  • White is not her maiden name, and she's married (Mrs. on the cover)
  • Probably scottish (lots of poems about scottish immigrants to the US and scotland in general)
  • Lived in Johnstown, Pennsylvania
  • Published a book in 1919

There are an surprising lot of people named Barbara White out there, but Barbara M. McMillan White (wikitree findagrave familysearch) seems the most probable to me, as she fits in all the boxes (married to a Mr. White, scottish Mac, lived in the later half of her life and died in Johnstown).

Oooh, fun.
Other things we know:
  • Only had one son who could serve in WWI, and he served with the "Johnstown Aero Squadron" (source)
  • Had a dog named Donald and a cat named Charlie (source)
Now, according to Findagrave, Barbara M. McMillan White did have one sun who served during WWI: William Graham White. It says that he served with the "3rd Instr Co Sig C", but I haven't found anything yet to confirm whether or not this is the same thing as the "Johnstown Aero Squadron" —Beleg Tâl (talk) 03:24, 2 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
