ARCHDEACONS OF NOTTINGHAM. 151 June 1351^^, but his majesty recalled the grant and bestowed the dignity on John de Bryxkelee or BiiiNKELOw, who was admitted 12th Dec. 1351, vice Kildesby deceased. Richard de Derby was appointed by the King 24th Feb. 1353^^, but was not installed into this dignity before 30th Sept. 1365, and he resigned it in 1397. John de Nottingham was admitted 27th Aug. 1397, vice Richard de Derby. He was made treasurer of this cathedral in 1415, and was succeeded in this archdeaconry by John de Wodeham, who resigned it for the archdea- conry of the East-Riding ; he was succeeded by Simon de Gaunstede, who was collated in 1418: to him succeeded Robert Bowet in 141 9. He died in 1430, and was succeeded by Nicholas Wymbissh, who was collated in 1430, vice Bowet deceased. Wymbissh died in 1460 or J 461, and was succeeded by Thomas Byrom in 1461, who died possessed of it in 1476. William Worseley was admitted 28th Sept. 1476, and died possessed of this dignity 14th Aug. 1499. He was also dean of St. Paul's, London. Thomas Crossley succeeded in Aug. J 499. John Hatton, in the beginning of Sept. 1506, was made archdeacon of Nottingham : void by the death of Crossley. Hatton died 25th April 1516, and was buried in the cathedral ^'7. William Fell, S.T.P., admitted 3rd Sept. 1516, loco John Hatton. His will was proved in 1.528. Cuthbert Marshall, S.T.P., was collated in Jan. 1527-8. He was buried 25th Jan. 1549-50 in the cathedraK'
