« BISHOPS. 9.59 1579 William Chaderton, S.T.P., was confirmed 7th Nov. 21 Eiiz. 1579, consecrated in the church of St. Gregory near St. Paul's the next day^^, and in 1595 he was trans- lated to Lincoln 17. The license to elect a bishop of Chester on the translation of the last to Lincoln is dated 25th June 1595^^. 1595 Hugh Bellot, bishop of Bangor, was translated to this 37 Eiiz. see 25th June 1595, and received the royal assent 4th Sept.^^; was confirmed on the 25th of the same month, had the temporalities restored to him 27th Oct.^°, and was enthroned 1st Nov. following. He sat about seven months, died 13th June 1596, and was buried at Wrexham in Denbighshire. The license to elect a bishop on the death of bishop Bellot is dated 23rd April 159721. 1597 Richard Vaughax, bishop of Bangor, was nominated 39 Eiiz.^ to this see i6th May 1597,, and obtained the royal assent 4th July-^; the temporalities were restored to him 2ist Aug.'23, and he was enthroned loth Nov. following. On 24th Dec. 1604 h® was translated to London-^. 1 604 George Lloyd, bishop of the Isle of Man, was translated 2Jac. I. to this see in Dec. 1604. He died ist Aug. 1615-^, 36 tat. ^^, and was buried in Chester cathedral. George Massie, S.T.P., was nominated by the King, but died before consecration i6th Jan. 16 15—16, and was buried in the church of St. Mary Savoy, London. 1 616 Thomas Morton, S.T.P., dean of Winchester, was 14 Jac. I. elected to this see 22nd May 1616, confirmed in the church of St. Benet Paul's -Wharf, London, 5th July, and consecrated at Lambeth on the 7th of the same month -^6.
