He obtained restitution of the temporalities 2nd March 1327-8-'; and ist Dec. 1333 he was by papal j)rovi8ion translated to Winchester ■'■^. 1334 Simon Mon tacutk or Montagu, archdeacon ofCanter- SEdw.lll. hury^ was promoted to the see of Worcester by papal bull dated 7th Dec. 1333, and received the temporalities 15th March 1 333-4-* ; he was confirmed on the 22nd of that month (xi Cal. April.)-' and consecrated 8th May at Thame. In 1337 he was translated to Ely'-'. Thomas Hkmkxhalk or IIenniball, called also IIen- NiBALL, a nionk of Norwich-^, was nominated to this see by the Pope, by bull dat^'d 14th March 1336-7-". He was consecrated by the Pope himself; and on his 1337 iiEdw.lII 20 On 1 2th Dec. 1327 the King addressed a threatening let- ter to Adain de Orleton, late bi- shop of Hereford, whom the Pope had translated to Worcester, void by the death of Thomas de Cob- ham, informing him that Wul- stan, prior of Worcester, had been elected bishop of W^orces- ter, had obtained the royal assent to his election, and had the tem- poralities restored to him ; Adam de Orleton is therefore ])rohibited from taking upon himself the said bishopric of Worcester. On the 26th of the same month he was summoned to appear before the King in parliament on the sub- ject, (Claus. I Kdw. III. p. 2. m. 4. in dorso.)
