16. Ne gecure gē mē, ac ic gecēas ēow, and ic sette ēow þæt gē gān and blǣda beron, and ēowre blǣda gelǣston; þæt Fæder sylle ēow swā hwæt swā gē biddað on mīnum naman.[1]

And þys [godspel] gebyrað tō þǣra apostola mæssedagon.

17. Đās þing ic ēow bēode, þæt gē lufion ēow gemǣnelīce.

18. Gif middaneard ēow hatað, witað þæt hē hatede mē ǣr ēow.

19. Gif ge of middanearde wǣron, middaneard lufode þæt his wæs; for þam þe gē ne synt of middanearde, ac ic ēow gecēas of middanearde, for ðī middaneard ēow hatað.[2]

20. Gemunað mīnre sprǣce þe ic ēow sǣde, Nis se ðēowa mǣrra þonne his hlāford. Gif hī mē ēhton, hī wyllað ehtan ēower; gif hī mīne sprǣce hēoldon, hī healdað ēac ēowre.[3]

21. Ac ealle þās þing hi doð ēow for mīnum naman, for þām hi ne cunnon þone þe mē sende.[4]

22. Gif ic ne cōme and tō him ne sprǣce, næfdon hig nāne synne; nū hī nabbað nāne lāde be hyra synne.[5]
