ēode intō ðǣre byrgene, and hē geseah līnwāda licgean,[1]

7. and þæt swātlīn þe wæs uppan his hēafde; ne læg hyt nā mid þām līnwādon, ac onsundron gefealden on ānre stōwe.[2]

8. Đā ēode ēac in sē leorningcniht þe ǣrest cōm tō ðǣre byrgene, and geseah, and gelȳfde.[3]

9. Witodlīce þā gȳt hī ne cūðon hālig gewrit, þæt hit gebyrede þæt hē sceolde fram dēaðe ārīsan.[4]

10. Đā fōron eft þā leorningcnihtas to þām ōðron.[5]

Ðis godspel gebirað on þunresdæg innan þǣre ēasterucan.

11. Witodlīce Maria stōd þār ūte æt ðǣre byrgyne, and wēop; and þā hēo wēop, hēo ābeah nyðer and beseah innan þā byrgene,[6]

12. and geseah twēgen englas sittan mid hwīton rēafe, ānne æt þām hēafdon and ōðerne æt þām fōtum, þǣr ðæs Hǣlendes līc ālēd wæs.[7]

13. Hī cwǣdon tō hyre, Wīf hwī wēpst þū? Þā cwæð hēo tō hym, For þām hī nāmon mīnne Drihten, and ic nāt hwār hī hine lēdon.
