He was the author of Reminiscences of An Old Georgia Lawyer, giving an interesting picture of the social life of the state during the early years of the nineteenth century. He died
about 1875 in Washington, Ga. Andrews, Gamett, soldier, legislator, lawyer, author, was born May 15, 1837, in Washington, Ga. About 1882 he removed to Chattanooga, Tenn. He served in the army during the civil war. He was a member of the Mississippi state legislature in 1879-80;
and was elected mayor of Chattanooga in 1891. He was the author of Andrew's Digest of the Laws of Mississippi. He died 1903, in Chattanooga, Tenn.

In 1876 he graduated from West Point; and in 1876-98 was second lieutenant and captain in the twenty-fifth regiment United States infantry. Since 1898 he has been adjutantgeneral. He is the author of Genealogy of the Andrews of Taunton and Stoughton, Mass.
Andrews, George Arthur, educator, clergyman, author, was born May 22, 1870, in Springfield, Mass. He attended Colby university; and graduated from Andover theological seminary. He became instructor in mathematics in the English high school of Worcester, Mass. He is pastor of the West congregational church of Andover, Mass. He is the author of Composite Geometrical Figures.

He then became major in the seventeenth regiment United States infantry; and in 1864 attained the rank of lieutenant-colonel in the thirteenth regiment United States infantry. In 1869-71 he was superintendent of Indian affairs for Arizona. In 1871 he was promoted to colonel in the twenty-fifth United States infantry; in 1892 was retired for age; and was appointed brigadier-general in the United States army and retired in 1904. He served throughout the civil war ; was brevetin 1848;

Andrews, George Pierce, lawyer, jurist, was born Sept. 29, 1835, in North Bridgeton, Maine. During the civil war he was assistant United States district attorney for the southern district of New York. In 1873-84 he
was corporation counsel of New York City. In 1884-1901 he was associate justice of the supreme court of New York for the first district. He died May 34, 1902, in New York City.

Montgomery and Talledega, Ala. In 1875 he became a professor of theology and dean of the theological department of Talladega college and became acting president in 1896.
