He removed to Cleveland in 1857, where he became extensively engaged in manufacturing enterprises. In 1895-99 he was a representative from Ohio to the fiftyfourth and fifty-fifth congresses as a republican. He died in 1902 in Cleveland, Ohio. Beach, Harlan Page, missionary, author, was born April 4, 1854, in South Orange, N.J. In 1895-96 he was educational secretary of the Student volunteer movement for foreign missions. Since 1906 he has been professor of the theory and practice of missions at Yale university. He is the author of Dawn on the Hills of T'ang; Knights of the Labarum; India and Christian Opportunity; and Geography and Atlas of Protestant Missions, in two volumes. Beach, Henry Harris Aubrey, physician, was bom Dec. 18, 1843, in Middletown, Conn. In 1873 he was president of the Boylston medical society. He became assistant demonstrator of anatomy in Harvard medical school in 1868; surgeon in the Massachusetts general hospital in 1872; and is now clinical instructor in surgery at Harvard university. Beach, John Newton, merchant, was bom Aug. 1, 1837, in Lodi, N.Y. He located in New York City; entered the dry goods business and has been a member of the present firm of Tefi't, Weller and company since 1879. He is vice-president of the Mercantile accident insurance company; and president of the Drygoods Chronicle publishing association. Beach, John W., educator, clergyman, was 1854 he was ordained to the ministry; and filled various pastorates in New York. In born Dec. 26, 1825, in Trumbull, Conn. In 1880-87 he was president of the Wesleyan university. He has since been presiding elder of the methodist church. Beach, Lewis, lawyer, congressman, was born March 30, 1835, in New York City. in farming and the practice of law. In 1881-87 he was a representative from New York to the forty-seventh, forty-eighth and forty-ninth congresses. He died Aug. 11, 1886, in Cornwall, N.Y. Beach, Miles, lawyer, jurist, was bom in 1840 in Saratoga county, N.Y. He practiced law in New York City. In 1874-94 he was judge of the court of common pleas; and in 1894-1902 was justice of the supreme court. He died May 19, 1902, in New York City. Beach, Moses Sperry, journalist, inventor, was born Oct. 5, 1822, in Springfield, Mass. In 1851-68 he was proprietor of the New York Sun. He has invented a special printing press; apparatus for wetting the paper before printing; and improvements of feeding roll paper instead of flat sheets. He died July 25, 1892, in Peekskill, N.Y.
