Blair, John, lawyer, jurist, was born in 1732 in Williamsburg, Va. He was a member of the legislature in 1765 and on the dissolution of the house in 1769, with Washington and other patriots, he drafted the nonimportation agreement. He was elected a judge of the court of appeals ; then chief justice; and in 1780 became chancery judge. In 1789-96 he was a judge of the United States
supreme court.

lawyer, jurist, congress11, 1821, in Parkersburg, Va. He was prosecuting attorney for Ritchie county for several years. In 1861-65 he was a representative from Virginia to the thirty-seventh and thirty-eighth congresses. In 1867 he was elected a representative in the state legislature and was United States minister to Costa Rica in 1868-72. In 187688 he was associate justice of the supreme court of Wyoming territory.
