His most noted essays were Kansas and the Constitution; The True Interest of the Border States; The Laws of Race in Reference to Slavery; and the Law of the Territories. At the close of the civil war he also wrote a book entitled, The Trial of the Constitution. He died July 25, 1871, in Philadelphia, Pa.

Fisher, -Sydney George, lawyer, author, was born Sept. 11, 1856, in Philadelphia, Pa. He was educated in Philadelphia private schools; at St. Paul's school of Concord; in
1879 graduated from the Trinity college of Hartford; and afterward spent two years at the Harvard law school. He became a member of the Philadelphia bar in 1883; and soon after wrote
numerous legal articles which attracted wide attention. His writings were instrumental in bringing about the adoption of civil service reform. He is the author of The Making of Pennsylvania;
Pennsylvania: Colony and Commonwealth; The Evolution of the Constitution; Men,
Women
and Manners in Colonial Times; The True Benjamin Franklin; and The True William Penn. Fisher, Theodore Willis, educator, physician, author, was born May 29, 1837, in M^estboro, Mass. Since 1881 he has been clinical instructor in mental disease at Harvard university. He is the author of Plain Talks About Insanity. Fisher, Thomas, author, poet, was bom Jan. 21, 1801, in Philadelphia, Pa. He was the author of Dial of the Seasons; Song of the Sea Shells; and Mathematics Simplified and Made Attractive. Fisk, Archie Campbell, soldier, financier, author, was born Oct. 18, 1836, in Steuben county, N.Y. He served through the civil war; and received the rank of adjutant-general. He erected and owned the first cotton seed oil mill in Missippippi; and in 1868 was delegate-at-large republican convention. He platted forty additions to Denver, Colo. and was president American trust company of that city.
