Be it enacted by the Senate and House 0_fRqn·ese22tatives of the [Lifted States of Ame1~lca in Uangress assembled, That whenever any postmas- igoswi ywicg Q te1·, clerk, carrier, or other person in the postal service, employed in beuiiiciiltrriicdisll W the Post—Oflice Department or elsewhere, notifies the Postmaster- _,§é§g;’$·’”’·P·’”‘· General of his desire to execute a new bond, or whenever any of the sureties of such postmaster, clerk, carrier, or other person, notifies the Postmaster-General of his desire to be released from such surety- ship, or whenever the Postmaster-General deems a new bond necessary or expedient, the execution of the new bond may he directed b the Postmaster-General. When accepted by the Postmaster—General the Reima vfsuretiessureties of postmasters in the prior bond shall be released from responsibility for all acts or defaults of the postmaster which maybe done or committed subsequent to the last day of the quarter in which such new bond shall be executed and accepted, and the sureties of other persons in the prior bond shall be released from responsibility for all acts or defaults of such persons which may be done or committed subsequent to the day such new bond becomes operative.
