' p .157,Supp . Naturalization, approved June 29, 1906, and March 4, 1913, and sub- sequent Acts (U. S. C., title 8, sets. 351-416 ; U. S. To inv esti gate and rep ort upon mat ters per tain ing to t he w elfa re, of children and child life, and especially to investigate the ques- tions of infant mortality, including not to exceed $169,200 for personal services in the District of Columbia, $185,000 . For traveling expenses of officers, special agents, and other employees of the Children's Bureau ; experts and temporary assist- ants, to be paid at a rate not exceeding $6 a day, and interpreters to be paid at a rate not exceeding $4 a day when actually employed ; purchase of reports and material for the publications of the Chil- dren's Bureau and for reprints from State, city, and private publi- cations for distribution when said reprints can be procured more cheaply than they can be printed by the Government, $65,000 : Prov ided , That appropriations herein made for the Children's Bureau shall be available for expenses of attendance at meetings for the promotion of child welfare when incurred on the written authority of the Secretary .
