Josephine Veronica Burke (1907-1995) was a dental assistant. She was the second wife of Thomas Patrick Norton, who was previously married to her half-sister. She died in 1995 at age 88. Her death. "May V. Norton, 88, Cedar Glen Lakes, Manchester Township, New Jersey, died Friday at home. She was a dental assistant in the Philadelphia area for 18 years, prior to her marriage in the 1950s. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church and its Altar and Rosary Society, and the Third Order of St. Francis, all Whiting. Mrs. Norton was born in Jersey City, and lived in Jackson Township before moving to the Cedar Glen Lakes in 1970. Her husband, Thomas P., died in 1968. Surviving are three stepsons, Thomas, Lake Hiawatha, Vincent, Colonia, and James, Edgewater; a brother, William Burke, Colonia; eight grandchildren, three greatgrandchildren and one great-greatgrandchild. Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, Manchester, is in charge of arrangements."
Death of her brother. "Owen J. Burke, 69, of Colonia died yesterday in the East Orange Veterans Hospital. A Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday in the St. John Vianney Church, Colonia, following the funeral from the Leon J. Gerity Funeral Home, Woodbridge. Mr. Burke was a dispatcher employed by the Halls Motor Transit Co. of East Brunswick for 27 years before retiring six years ago. He was a member of the Teamsters Union, Local 641, Jersey City. Mr. Burke served in the Army during World War II and was a member of the American Legion Post 388 of Jersey City. Born in Jersey City, he lived in Union before moving to Colonia five years ago. Surviving are two brothers, William and John, and a sister Mrs. May V. Norton."
Death of her husband. "The funeral of Thomas Patrick Norton, 76, of 17 Pine Street, Jackson, New Jersey will be Tuesday from the David DeRoche Funeral Home, 213 Lexington Avenue, Lakewood, with a mass in St. Aloysius Church, Jackson. Interment will be in Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City. Mr. Norton died yesterday at Paul Kimball Hospital, Lakewood. He was a longtime resident of Jersey City and a retired yardmaster for the Lackawanna Railroad in Hoboken. He was a member of the local Senior Citizens Club."

"Of 603 Garfield Avenue, on Friday, November 15, 1957 Mary Patterson (nee Burke) in her 87th year, beloved wife of the late Richard Patterson, devoted mother of Mrs. Lenore Hammelbacher; also survived by four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; loving aunt of Mrs. May V. Norton, Mrs. Bertha Prasky, William, John, Owen, and Margaret Burke. …"
Her marriage. "Miss May Veronica Burke, niece of Mrs. Mary E. Patterson, of 1181 Villanova Avenue, Rutledge, and Thomas Norton of 603 Garfield Avenue, Jersey City, New Jersey, were united in marriage this morning at 10 o'clock in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, Morton. Rev. Joseph B. Gibson performed the ceremony. The bride, who was given in marriage by her brother, William Burke, wore a powder blue chiffon gown and hat and a corsage of pink rosebuds. Mrs. Leona Hammelbacher, of Egg Harbor, New Jersey, the matron of honor, wore a dusty rose chiffon gown and a corsage of tea roses. James Norton, of Jersey City was the best man for Mr. Norton. A wedding breakfast at Media Inn, Media, followed the ceremony after which Mr. and Mrs. Norton left for a wedding trip to Niagara Falls, Great Lakes and Chicago, and upon their return they will reside at 603 Garfield Avenue, Jersey City. The bride attended Lansdowne High School. Mr. Norton, a railroad official, is a veteran of World War I."
Death of her father. "John J. Burke, Sr., 73, of 740 Grand Street, died yesterday at the Medical Center following a brief illness. He was a lifelong resident of Jersey City. He was a communicant of St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, and a member of its Holy Name Society. He was a former employee of Peter Henderson, florist. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Josephine Burke; three sons, William, John and Owen Burke, and four daughters, Mrs. Mary Norton and the Misses Bertha, Josephine, and Margaret Burke and a sister, Mrs. Mary Patterson."
