Her death. "Of 603 Garfield Avenue, on Friday, November 15, 1957 Mary Patterson (nee Burke) in her 87th year, beloved wife of the late Richard Patterson, devoted mother of Mrs. Lenore Hammelbacher; also survived by four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; loving aunt of Mrs. May V. Norton, Mrs. Bertha Prasky, William, John, Owen, and Margaret Burke. Relatives and friends also Altar Rosary Society are invited to attend the funeral on Monday, November 18, at 9 a.m. from the Funeral Home of Richmond F. Routh 206 Old Bergen Road. Solemn Mass of Requiem at Sacred Heart Church 10 a.m. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Darby, Pennsylvania."
Death of her father. "John J. Burke, Sr., 73, of 740 Grand Street, died yesterday at the Medical Center following a brief illness. He was a lifelong resident of Jersey City. He was a communicant of St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, and a member of its Holy Name Society. He was a former employee of Peter Henderson, florist. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Josephine Burke; three sons, William, John and Owen Burke, and four daughters, Mrs. Mary Norton and the Misses Bertha, Josephine, and Margaret Burke and a sister, Mrs. Mary Patterson."
Her husband's first wife disappears. "After endeavoring through every available channel to learn the whereabouts of his mother, from whom he has been separated for fifteen years. John J. Patterson, 22 years, of 117 North Tenth street, has asked The Inquirer to try, through its columns, to locate the missing parent. Mother and son became separated in New York city in 1892 as the result of a family quarrel. Since that time the young man has been trying to find his mother and thereby reestablish the old home. Mrs. Patterson would now be forty years of age. Her maiden name was Blanche Kingsmore."
