(1841–1919)

William Burke (1845-1919) of County Sligo, Ireland was a migrant from Ireland to the United States on February 15, 1863. He worked as a milk dealer in Jersey City, New Jersey. He died in 1919 of "exhaustion from senile dementia", which was most likely Alzheimer's disease, at age 74. (b. circa March 19, 1845; Ireland - d. Death of his granddaughter. "Mrs. Mary Burke Norton, 59, of 603 Garfield Avenue, died yesterday at the Medical Center of a ruptured appendix. She was admitted to the hospital August 31. Mrs. Norton, a communicant of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, is survived by her husband, Thomas P. Norton, Sr., and three sons, Thomas; Vincent and James Norton."
Death of his son. "John J. Burke, Sr., 73, of 740 Grand Street, died yesterday at the Medical Center following a brief illness. He was a lifelong resident of Jersey City. He was a communicant of St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, and a member of its Holy Name Society. He was a former employee of Peter Henderson, florist. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Josephine Burke; three sons, William, John and Owen Burke, and four daughters, Mrs. Mary Norton and the Misses Bertha, Josephine, and Margaret Burke and a sister, Mrs. Mary Patterson."
