Pretexts
[edit]- After the end of the Portal:Cold War Nations of the former Portal:Warsaw Pact sought and gained membership in Portal:NATO § Expansion of NATO 1992-2021.
- European Union–Ukraine Association Agreement [1] signed 21 March 2014, C.f. w:European Union–Ukraine Association Agreement. Although approved by Ukrainian Parliament, president Author:Viktor Yanukovych refused to sign it, instead choosing closer ties to Portal:Russia and the Eurasian Economic Union.
- This led to the w:Euromaidan uprising. Parliament removed Yanukovych from office, who then fled to Russia.
- Reinstatement of the Constitution of Ukraine, 2004 in 2014, events known as Ukraine's w:Revolution of Dignity.
