{{helpme}} I was wondering what this page should be called, and so I leave this message. The title of the work, as described in the “prospectus” and as continued on for the first five (of 55) volumes, is The Philippine Islands, 1493–1803. However, following an “Editorial Announcement” in the sixth volume, the title is changed to The Philippine Islands, 1493–1898. Under which title should this work be kept? Obviously, a redirect may be had from an alternate title. I ask you, Inductiveload, as well, because of your recent interest in the first volume. TE(æ)A,ea. (talk) 22:00, 4 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

@TE(æ)A,ea.: Personally, I would go for the latter title with a redirect from the former. The editors retitled it due to expanding its scope mid-way, so that's the title that would best match the work's actual scope. Xover (talk) 05:43, 5 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
Xover: I was just going to earlier today; but you beat me to the punch. Could you move them, please, to the new title? TE(æ)A,ea. (talk) 20:06, 5 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
@TE(æ)A,ea.: Will do, but it'll have to keep until tomorrow (please remind me if I forget). Also note that for the page names (that show up in the browser address field) the practice is to use plain ASCII characters, so I'll switch back to hyphens from endashes at the same time. All other places (the stuff displayed in the page, including headers, tocs, etc.) the endashes are fine, so there should be no particular need to go back and update stuff for this apart from any link fixes. @TE(æ)A,ea.: Done
Please check that it looks ok and let me know if anything needs fixing. --Xover (talk) 06:54, 6 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

There are 2 pages for this series

[edit]

After going around, checking the pages that link to the Prospectus, I saw that there is also a portal for this series. So, is this intentional or a mistake, and if it is, then which is more valid? — CVValue (talk) 19:08, 14 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

  • CVValue: The separation of the portal and the main page is intentional. The portal lists all volumes, and links to their scans; the main page should list only those volumes which are complete and those which are having active work (currently, the “Prospectus” (complete) and vol. 1 (active work)).
