Gittisham Rectory, 1869; educ: Bath College, and the Forest School, Wathamston; came out to India and was coffee planter, 1889 1901; served in South Africa with Lumsden’s Horse, 1900; wounded at Zand River, 1901; awarded Queen’s medal with 3 clasps; joined the staff of the ‘Madras Mail’ as Assistant Editor, 1901; Honorary Secretary, Agri-Horticultural Society, Madras, 1903-09; and again in 1913-14; m. Evelyn, d. of E. W. Stoney, C.I.E.; 2 s. and 1 d. Recreations: Tennis, Badminton and Shooting. Address: “Madras Mail” Office, Madras, India.
