The Motorway Code was a guide produced by British Government departments in 1958 prior to the opening of the first section of motorway in Britain, the Preston Bypass. The code contains information about the restrictions on motorways as well as advice on how to drive on a motorway. A year after it's publication, The Motorway Code was incorporated into a new edition of the main Highway Code.
