Prayer of the oil

Mark Lidzbarski3807083Mandaïsche Liturgien — Prayer 241920Wikisource
XXIV.
In the name of life.

You received continuance, first life,
which you were from time immemorial,
before which no one was.
He filled himself and went out with his power
and his brightness and with the brightness
and the power which his father put in him.

We did not change what you commanded us.
You did make great our steps,
did lift up our eyes in the heights,
did descend and made us dwell at the springs of life.
You poured into us and filled us
with your wisdom, your insight and your goodness.
You showed us the way
by which you came from the house of life.
On it let us walk the walk of true, faithful men,
that our minds and souls may dwell in the Škīnā of life,
the place where the spirits of our fathers rest,
clothed with splendor, covered with light.
They rejoice, leap, jump, are proud
and well pleased with the glorious splendor ... rests glory.

This is the oil, the oil of splendor, light and glory
that Manda d-Haijē blessed with his pure mouth
and granted to all friends of the name of Kuštā.
From anyone who sprinkles this oil,
all the pains, plagues, chastisements, contractions and evil curses of the body will be taken away.
He will be freed
from the block, the fetter, the evil curse,
from evil oppression, lying calling,
from the hand of the wicked, the sword of the enemies,
the third tongue softer than fat and more cutting than a sword,
from the vampires and pests,
from the evil cry and sorcery,
from corrupt wreath,
from biruq, man and woman,
and from the second death.

May they be sprinkled away and cast away "by virtue" of your exalted name, which is all life.
He falls on the dead, and he lives,
on the sick, and he stretches,
on the blind, and he sees,
on the deaf and dumb, and wisdom and understanding enter into him.
The guilty man is victorious in the trial,
and the prisoner is freed from prison.

May the hand of Kuštā and healing come from the house of healings
in the name of the life that came from life,
and in the name of Jōzaṭaq Manda d-Haijē.

Anyone who sprinkles with this oil
will be healed without Sins and debts
in the place of life.

And life is victorious.

Commentary

[edit]
These 3 prayers "We confessed the name of life", "The precious oil is you" and "You received continuance, first life" read over the oil and draw the souls you baptize when they come up from the Jordan. say:
"N, son of N! You are marked with the sign of life,
the name of life and the name of the Mandā d-Haijē is pronounced over you.
You are baptized with the baptism of the great Bihrām, the son of the mighty (life).
Your baptism keep you and be successful. The name of life and the name of the Mandā d-Haijē is pronounced upon you."
Draw them 3 times, hand them Kuštā, then stroke on your face your own sealing.
Then let them stand up before you, read over the Pihtā and Mambūhā, hand them the Pihtā that they may eat it, hand them the Mambūhā that they may drink it, hand them Kuštā, sit them down before you, read the sealing prayers and lay your hand on their heads.
