Translation:Transcript of Diego Lacsamana (March 29, 1629)
Maria Ganda, Tomás Hiyip, Alonso (illegible text)upi, Don Bartolomé Galao:
Within the presented contents, there are two in Tagalog letters which due to their poor manner cannot be transcribed to the letter. Rather, the substance of one of these is: It appears that in the town of Tondo on the fourth of December of the year one thousand six hundred and twenty-five, Doña Maria Silang, its principal woman, acknowledges having sold to Doña Francisca Longad a parcel of land known as Bouisan, which is at the boundary of the town of Mihaligui, which borders on the south side the lands of Don Pedro SalonquiA portion of text is missing or illegible at this point in the source manuscript, and cannot be reproduced here. |
And the other contents dated in the said town of Tondo on the fifteenth of February of the year one thousand six hundred and thirteen: Doña Catalina Baycan, its principal woman, acknowledges having sold to Don Andrés Piit, native of the town of Dilao, one half of a piece of farmland which mentions Leoncia Cauido in the partition that they made between themselves, and Doña Secillia, her sister, for the price of seventy tostones, with the obligation that if any damage should emerge to the said Don Andrés Piit over the said land, to return the seventy tostones in the presence of witnesses, which it says were Don Augustín Casso, Doña Maria Guintoin, and Luis Pagondatan who also says that he wrote the said contents. And at the end of it, there are four other signatures in the same Tagalog letters which say: Doña Catalina Baycan, Doña Maria Guinto, Don Augustín Casso, I who wrote it, Luis Pagondatan. That which the said transcript declares is that the said Don Diego Lacsamana had done this well and faithfully, to ths best of his knowledge and understanding, with neither fraud nor deception towards anyone involved. And I sign and say this in a manner to be certain and true. The aforesaid is said in Manila on the said day, the twenty-ninth of March of the year one thousand, six hundred and twenty-nine, (illegible text) witnesses Francisco de la Torre and Juan Gonzales Meria, inhabitants of this city (to be amended) Dilao, Agustín Vaca, of the two, Phelipe Dabo, and V(illegible text) Vala.
