Hi AngelPrincess72. I would like to introduce you to our newer means of getting texts on line and it is using the Proofread Page. To help lead I have

Spelling Error

[edit]

Sorry about butting in on your work. You had a spelling error in the title which is why the links weren't working correctly. As long as you click on the links on the front page from now on that problem should be fixed. This version of Altar is spelled with ar not the er. Again sorry for the confusion. --Xxagile (talk) 20:36, 8 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Jane Eyre/Chapter XXVII

[edit]

I am trying out something new with Jane Eyre/Chapter XXVII, the procedure aligns the gutenberg version with the page scan. Let me know what you think. Cygnis insignis (talk) 16:33, 1 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

I wonder what you are correcting the punctuation against, if not the page scan? Cygnis insignis (talk) 16:41, 1 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Remainder of book

[edit]

Finishing of the remainder of the match and split, and then will run the bot over it to do what it can without thinking components, including move to proofread status. Running header, and chapters marks will need to be done on pages, and the pages in the main namespace will need formatting. I think that I bot'd most of the -- to —. billinghurst (talk) 22:35, 1 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

I will add, that with a MATCH & SPLIT, that it can get confusled at the end of chapters and occasionally pages, and have a word or a sentence on the wrong side of the page marker. Doesn't happen that often, however it really pays to confirm that the last word is the last word, and add {{hws}} and {{hwe}} if required. billinghurst (talk) 22:40, 1 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Villette

[edit]

I have been through and applied Match and Split on the beast, and currently running the bot through to get them to the proofread stage. The latter chapters have the chapter name and bits upon them, which doesn't align with what you have done in your chapters. If that is the presentation that you want for the work, I would suggest that you wrap them inside <noinclude></noinclude> wrappers in the Page:namespace, and they will not transclude through to the main namespace. billinghurst (talk) 15:24, 4 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

I've noticed that the last page: page 500 is blank, and the rest of the chapter is written on the previous page. Do I leave it as it is, or add the rest of the chapter onto page 500 (even though there is no writing on it)? Thanks--Angelprincess72 (talk) 18:25, 29 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
I would leave it on the last page with text, though it is six of one, half a dozen of the other. billinghurst sDrewth 03:44, 30 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
So do I leave the extra text on page 499 or move it to page 500? Thanks. --Angelprincess72 (talk) 14:30, 30 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Note

[edit]

I wanted to leave you a note to acknowledge that you have performed some hard work and show great dedication to this project. I will be helping you validate some of the Villette pages if you don't mind (it is hard to read too much of the same work for too long, so it is nice to mix it up). Thanks. I really appreciate an extra hand on the novel (and especially a lengthy novel), and you are more than welcome to help me validate. It's nice to be able to proofread on your own, but its even better when someone else is there to proofread as well: Wikisource encourages editors to work together: it builds friendship and teamwork. Thanks again.--Angelprincess72 (talk) 17:30, 31 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Re: User talk:Billinghurst#Musicals

[edit]

Hi! I saw your question on Billinghurst's talk page about the licensing issue. Here's what I think about the situation: Commons policy does indeed require a work to be freely licensed in both the country of origin and the country where the uploader resides, in addition to the United States where their servers are located. That said, I don't think that part of the policy is very strictly enforced. (Think about it: Commons doesn't even require users to disclose which country they are from, does it?) Nor do I think that it would be problematic in any way for you to upload the music to Have a Heart, as a derivative work of a composition that's in the public domain in the US to a server that's located in the US. So yeah, I guess by a strict interpretation you wouldn't be allowed to upload the music to Have a Heart, but if that strict interpretation is enforced then I guess my upload of the original file should be deleted as well, and possibly reuploaded by an American user. What would be the point of that, though? :) So my view is that this falls under Avoid copyright paranoia. Just my opinion, of course. Regards, Jafeluv (talk) 22:28, 3 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Actually, just disregard everything I just said. According to this, as an EU country the UK applies the rule of the shorter term to non-EU works, which means that if the work is out of copyright in the source country, it's also out of copyright in the UK. The applicable directive can be seen here (art. 7(1)). Hope this helps. Jafeluv (talk) 13:51, 8 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
So if a work is licensed with PD-1923 or PD-US and the author died with PD-70 or more then it is in the public domain in the UK? (Of course taking into account the rule of perpetual copyright). So then this work is in the public domain in the UK and I can upload the images? If so, I will probably license the images with PD-old.

Little request

[edit]
Notice modeled after [1]

As Template:New texts is monitored in IRC, and many users have it in their Watchlists, I was wondering whether you would consider adding the name of the text being added to the edit summary, rather than solely +1,-1. Even if it is just have +Name of work, -1 that would be most helpful. Thanks. -- Cirt (talk) 04:18, 21 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

end of paragraph

[edit]

The current practice is preserve the line after the end of a paragraph with {{nop}}, so adding

some text, some text, some text, end of paragraph.
{{nop}}

to the Page: will do the same trick that {{Blankline}} does on the next page. Using this is 'cheaper', less confusing, and perhaps more logical. Regards, Cygnis insignis (talk) 18:13, 2 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. I'll keep that in mind. --Angelprincess72 (talk) 20:55, 2 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
[edit]

Re: this edit, it is preferable to link the page numbers in the index to the pages in main-space, eg. "Baye du Cap, 305" will be linked as The Life of Captain Matthew Flinders, R.N./Chapter 20#305. There is a script to do this if you are interested. As a rule of thumb: we don't link the Page: namespace in the text that appears in mainspace. Cygnis insignis (talk) 15:41, 15 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Editing Toolbar

[edit]

When I edit in the Page namespace, the edit buttons that were in my monobook don't appear. It only shows the basic buttons. --Angelprincess72 (talk) 08:51, 22 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

I have moved your monobook.js file over to User:Angelprincess72/vector.js which contained the extra buttons, and that may work, though it may just be problematic, as toolbars are one of the changes. Let me know here so I can explore further if necessary. — billinghurst sDrewth 10:04, 22 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
It's still not working. The extra buttons are not showing. --Angelprincess72 (talk) 12:59, 22 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
Did you first purge your cached files, ie. CTRL-F5 ? If you did and still not working then I am going to have to do some research (for something that I had been ostriching) to see how we do it for vector skin. Can I suggest rolling back to monobook skin until we have got this sorted out, and note that you will need to move User:Angelprincess72/vector.js back to User:Angelprincess72/monobook.js, and again purge the cache to reload the javascript functions. As it will soon be the default skin, we do need to update the toolbars stuff. :-/ — billinghurst sDrewth 13:40, 22 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
I've moved the page, and purged the files many times, but it still does not work.--Angelprincess72 (talk) 17:21, 23 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
The data on how-to is at http://usability.wikimedia.org/wiki/Toolbar_customization, though it is not written in English, well not English that humans speak. I have yet to have the patience to sit down and to do it. I would think that it is a good question for the community at WS:S. — billinghurst sDrewth 13:22, 24 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Formatting contents

[edit]

I'm not sure how to add the extra "Parts" after the chapter titles on this page and the next. --Angelprincess72 (talk) 12:57, 22 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Nested table in the middle column seems the easiest. Also to note that I did some other things like 1) removed individual formatting and applied to table as a whole, more to show you how to be lazy like me, not that it was wrong; 2) for column width, if you define one, the other cells in column will adapt; 3) other bits. If that doesn't make sense then tell me. I only did one nestedtable, I hope that isn't a problem. — billinghurst sDrewth 13:32, 22 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Grouse book

[edit]

Thanks for helping me with the frontmatter of that grouse book. I've noticed that the frontispiece image you extracted is very small. Is this since you purposely chose this size, or since you couldn't find anything larger? If the latter, I think you can get a much better version to extract an image from from the "image" tab on Page:GrouseinHealthVol1.djvu/6, and probably an even better one from the Internet Archive page. —innotata 16:14, 26 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Asking for musical note editing advice

[edit]

Hi Angelprincess72. I am looking for some software tool/method to recreate the musical notes on the 11 pages STARTING HERE. I attempted to graphically enhance the first row of notes on that page, but THE RESULTS ARE VERY POOR. Perhaps you can point me in the right direction as to how to improve this? Thanks. - Ineuw (talk) 15:23, 18 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Try recreating the notes in a musical notation software, then saving it in png and uploading it to Commons. I would recommend Lilypond or Musescore. That way the colour and notes would look sharper. If you have any trouble with that then either send me a message or I could recreate the notes for you. --Angelprincess72 (talk) 15:48, 18 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the software links and your kind offer of help. - Ineuw (talk) 22:15, 18 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

I'm working on a musical notation template - a sample is here. Ineuw indicated you might be able to answer some questions about musical scores. Right now,I am wondering if I have placed the notes too close together. Also, should eighth-notes and other notes with flags take up more space because of the flags, or should I leave the same spacing for eighth and quarter notes? Thanks in advance. --Eliyak T·C 18:54, 22 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Your sample looks really good. The space between the notes is fine. Flagged notes generally take up more space anyway than notes without flags. I think you should leave the same spacing for all flagged notes, (be they quavers or semiquavers), it will make the staff look more cleaner. However, in terms of the height of flagged notes, that will differ. Generally, the more flags the note has, the higher the note will be.--Angelprincess72 (talk) 10:55, 23 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
I am thinking that for simplicity's sake it will be easiest to have all notes stake up the same space, whether they are flagged or not, and whether they are sharp/flat. I will let you know when I have an example ready.
Another question: On this page, the right column shows some of what I thought were half notes, but I see that some of them are stretched wider than the others, while some note heads are almost circular. Does this mean anything, or can it be ignored? --Eliyak T·C 02:06, 24 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
After looking at a sharp and flat in my evenly spaced scheme, I have decided to widen the spacing for those notes. Flags would be (much) more difficult to adjust the spacing, so I hope they look OK. (The problem is that flagged and non-flagged notes will sometimes need to align vertically, and in that case I can only see how to add space on the left (pitch marks) or right (flags), not both.) Flags on downward stems will obviously not cause a problem, but those on upward stems may not look so good. I have placed what I believe will be the most egregious example at User:Eliyak/test (center 2 notes of top line). What do you think? You can play with the spacing if you like. Spacing for all regular (and flagged) notes is defined here. Spacing for pitched notes is defined here. Increasing the spacing will add space to the left of all notes of that type. --Eliyak T·C 04:01, 24 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
I think your example looks really good, and the spacing looks fine too.

Thanks for the image. I've uploaded the image onto Commons and added it on the index page. Maybe you may know how? Thanks. --Angelprincess72 (talk) 17:25, 18 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
I don't really know what you want to achieve or why you need to remove the blank area but I see that you have significantly reduced the image size from what I made and converted it to gif thereby reducing the sharpness> I can provide the original tif I worked from, as that has the most information. Going from jpg to gif is not a good idea. The original tif images is here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8004587/Villa%20D%27Este%20Tivoli.tif Make all the crops and modifications to that file and then convert to your final format or tell me what you would like to do with it.
