Related author

As I understood it, "related author" is for an author whose works are closely associated with the author in question (Gilbert & Sullivan, for example), not for an author who is a biological relation. But I am not finding any clarification in the documentation for the template. --EncycloPetey (talk) 15:48, 12 November 2018 (UTC)

That's how I saw it too. I saw them as related since they wrote their book(s) together. But since the reciprocal links are already in the description it might have been overkill. I'll revert those edits. --Azertus (talk) 15:57, 12 November 2018 (UTC)

I don't think I've ever used the "related author" parameter. I've always put the information in the notes because it's less visually obtrusive, especially if there is a Portal link and a Wikidata/Wikipedia link as well. --EncycloPetey (talk) 16:02, 12 November 2018 (UTC)

Just in case

You may be interested in {{topicmatcher}} that is set up in the Dictionary of Indian Biography bios, which will display a link to fire-0up and search for a page in Magnus's topicmatcher tool. It is a hidden tool in that you need to modify your CSS to see the link. I am planning to gadgetify it, just haven't yet. — billinghurst sDrewth 14:40, 26 May 2021 (UTC)
