Black Mask

[edit]

Please do not create pages devoid of content. These are routinely deleted on Wikisource, as they have no usable content. --EncycloPetey (talk) 17:17, 4 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the terseness. I'm almost able to make out what you're referring to. -- C. A. Russell (talk) 17:22, 4 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
This will be your one and only warning about uncivil discourse. --EncycloPetey (talk) 17:37, 4 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Author pages require license tags

[edit]

Hey, I wanted to inform you that Author pages do require license tags. I do see where you're coming from, but it will nevertheless be necessary to add a license tag before it is ok to remove the {{no license}} warning. —Beleg Tâl (talk) 18:16, 13 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

The Cleansing of Poisonville

[edit]

Thank you for adding that. (I originally came to Wikisource looking for work by Hammett and was disappointed how little there is here).

I note that you have not mentioned the illustration on the first page - do you not want to include that ? (Another user has added).

I also note that you are leaving line breaks - is that your preference ? (See Help:Beginner's guide to typography#Paragraphs_and_sentences - "Remove line breaks. Printed books break lines of text to fit lines to a page. Scanned texts often render line breaks at the end of each line according to how they appear in the original text. Such breaks are considered artefacts of the printing process. When transcribing a text from its source into a Wikisource page, it is best practice to remove these line breaks. Although web browsers will naturally wrap text for the individual reader, there are cases where leaving in line breaks proves problematic. It is recommended that line breaks be removed during the proofread stage of editing to lessen distraction during the validation stage.")

Regarding coal-grate or coalgrate, neither wiktionary nor a google search throw up any coalgrate - I think coal-grate is best.

Regarding tight-lipped or tightlipped, it seems both are acceptable, though a couple of kindle versions of the book use tight-lipped. -- Beardo (talk) 19:02, 15 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Also, according to Wiktionary, employes was an archaic variant. -- Beardo (talk) 05:50, 16 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

I hope you won't mind, but I will proceed to tidy up that work as I think is best. -- Beardo (talk) 22:43, 20 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
I have put this as a new text on the main page. -- Beardo (talk) 00:42, 2 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
