Greek
[edit]Foulis Greek / Junicode is for displaying ancient and medieval Greek, not for modern Greek. Our polytonic Greek template is {{polytonic}} --EncycloPetey (talk) 08:19, 22 September 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks for your digging up, I will add later. --Great Brightstar (talk) 08:25, 22 September 2017 (UTC)
- Hi, I saw you added more fonts to the "Polytonic fonts" template, but you re-added two fonts that I removed because they caused undesirable results. The fonts that cause issues are "EB Garamond 12" and Garamond — as I explained in my earlier edit, they either cause a font without serifs to show (the "Polytonic fonts" template is to show fonts with serifs, like in the 1911 Encyclopædia Britannica) or show inconsistent sizes. With your recent addition, the Greek font as shown in the article 1911 Encyclopædia Britannica/Anchor (the word ἄγκυρα) has a normal size alpha with diacritics above, the rest of the word shows in a smaller font, including a plain alpha character (using Windows 10 64-bit, build 14393). I've recently made hundreds of edits to the EB1911 pages to use the Polytonic template. Did you test the template with various pages before making your change? Can you please remove the offending fonts and test on various platforms, thanks. DivermanAU (talk) 09:33, 12 October 2017 (UTC)
- Re: the above, I've locked the template from further edits, and I request you both discuss desired font changes at Template talk:Greek. Thanks :) Beleg Tâl (talk) 12:34, 12 October 2017 (UTC)
- Sorry, I've not tested so carefully before edit. But anyway, thanks for your notice. --Great Brightstar (talk) 14:56, 12 October 2017 (UTC)
- Hi Great Brightstar. Would you mind re-stating your request of 12 Oct to remove the two Garamond fonts from the {{Polytonic fonts}}? I understood your request meant to remove those two fonts (I thought you were quite clear - you said "I decided to remove them"). Beleg Tâl also understood the same and did the deletion of the two Garamond fonts, but another user (EncycloPetey) seems to think you wanted to add them in (?). Would you mind adding to the conversation in "Template talk:Greek" to clarify? Thanks. (By the way, the representation of ancient Greek text using the {{Polytonic}} template looks much better since those Garamond fonts have been removed from {{Polytonic fonts}}). Regards, DivermanAU (talk)

Serif
[edit]Out of curiosity, why are you adding serif to all those templates? It doesn't make the pages look any good when there's a stark contrast between the text in the templates and text out of the templates. -Einstein95 (talk) 10:55, 13 February 2018 (UTC)
- OK, I just added fallback font into them if a device doesn't include Georgia font (except you rooted or jailbroke it), it doesn't change the visual appearences. BTW is it possible to add Georgia Pro font for them? --Great Brightstar (talk) 10:59, 13 February 2018 (UTC)
Black logo
[edit]The black logo draws too much attention to itself, and does not fit into the color scheme used for the linkages. Please discuss major changes to appearance before making them. --EncycloPetey (talk) 15:15, 15 July 2018 (UTC)
Changes to widely-used templates
[edit]Please consider the effects of changing widely used templates and test them before implementing them. I have had to protect some templates because your edits have rendered the text they display almost illegible. --EncycloPetey (talk) 14:02, 2 November 2018 (UTC)
Images
[edit]Please upload images to Commons instead of doing so locally. Files should only be local if they are still under copyright in the country of origin. Images which improve on raw page scans should be uploaded to Commons. --EncycloPetey (talk) 03:40, 16 November 2018 (UTC)
- @EncycloPetey:Thank you, but I think I have no rights to move a local image to Commons, is there anyway to send the request? --Great Brightstar (talk) 13:51, 16 November 2018 (UTC)
- When you uploaded the image, you replaced a bot-generated raw page image. These were low-quality images created only to be temporary placeholders. So there is no history to transfer. Just upload your corrected image to Commons. Then tag the local copy for deletion. --EncycloPetey (talk) 15:20, 16 November 2018 (UTC)
Why are you adding multiple copies of

to these pages? What has this got to do with your Mongol font changes? Shenme (talk) 07:42, 1 January 2019 (UTC)

Oh sorry, I'm not clear what's wrong with it when I submit my change, but it seems to me that the server having an error.
What has this got to do with your Mongol font changes?
In Wikipedia I moved all font families into TemplateStyles when I maintain this template, so I copied the source codes to here. While this template is used, the font-family will be load just once, but can be used everywhere, so the page would load a bit faster. --Great Brightstar (talk) 08:18, 1 January 2019 (UTC)
- I know what's wrong with me. When I edit with desktop skin, the problem appearing to me, but when I switch to mobile skin to edit, the problem is disappearing. So there is a bug for desktop skin. --Great Brightstar (talk) 08:37, 1 January 2019 (UTC)
Img float
[edit]This template now fails to work properly in the Page namespace. Is this a result of the MW update or a result of your changes? --EncycloPetey (talk) 16:27, 1 January 2019 (UTC)
For example, see Page:The Osteology of the Reptiles.pdf/109 or Page:The Osteology of the Reptiles.pdf/131, where the template used to align correctly.
Also, there is a Phabricator ticket open. There is a possibility the updated may be reversed. Will your template changes continue to work after this happens, or will your work have to be undone? --EncycloPetey (talk) 16:30, 1 January 2019 (UTC)
- I'm surprised this problem happening, will see what to fix. --Great Brightstar (talk) 01:58, 2 January 2019 (UTC)
Block center
[edit]Why on earth would this template need to specify a "height"? --EncycloPetey (talk) 15:26, 6 January 2019 (UTC)
- Well, this is one of parameters copied from {{center block}}, because these templates are actually the same, I think they need to merging together, but I also made some efforts to make it compatible with {{center block}}.--Great Brightstar (talk) 15:32, 6 January 2019 (UTC)
- But are there any places where the "height" parameter is actually used on the other template? --EncycloPetey (talk) 15:53, 6 January 2019 (UTC)
Possible fix coming
[edit]Please see WS:Scriptorium#Possible fix coming. There will be a reversal of the Dec 15 changes, and display:flex should be avoided for now. If any of your recent changes depend upon the Dec 15 update, they will need to be undone. --EncycloPetey (talk) 14:45, 9 January 2019 (UTC)
Hello. This template is not fully "broken" but as it longer works the same way it used to, I would like to take your advice before amending it further.
Concerning this change I would like to point out the sequence style="style="
is obviously an editing error and is easily corrected.
However I would like to know more about your plans for the new "multicol" class introduced (it certainly is not defined for the desktop environment — is it for mobile use only?) Also where rules="cols"
still works (draws vertical rule between columns) in mozilla browsers, the replacing rules="presentation"
does nothing useful? Perhaps this is browser- or context- specific; or is the keyword wrong, e.g. something like role="presentation"
intended — which also does not work for all browsers — instead?
114.73.65.234 21:48, 9 January 2019 (UTC)
- OK this bug should be fixed. --Great Brightstar (talk) 01:28, 10 January 2019 (UTC)
