End-of-page

[edit]

When a paragraph ends on a page, and the following page will start a new paragraph, it is necessary to add {{nop}} on its own line at the end of the page to keep the next paragraph separate when the book is finished. --EncycloPetey (talk) 23:54, 1 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Under the Greenwood Tree proofreading issue

[edit]

Hello there! First off, welcome to Wikisource! Thank you for helping improve our free library, and for taking some time to work on this month's community challenge.

Just a quick note- I noticed you created about thirty pages for Index:Under the greenwood tree (1872 Volume 1).pdf and marked them as proofread without proofreading the pages in question. Don't worry, I have fixed this issue. In the future, if you're just starting the transcription from an image, you can click the red circle to save the page in question without marking it as proofread yet.

Every little bit helps, so thank you again for participating in this project! It can take a little while to get used to how this website operates, so if you have questions, don't hesitate to reach out and ask somebody. You can do that very easily by using the text {{helpme}} when writing a comment.

Or just come to my talk page, or the Scriptorium! --FPTI (talk) 14:23, 5 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Do not mark pages as proofread or validated if you have not done so.

[edit]

I am noticing that you have marked dozens of pages as proofread despite not proofreading them. Many have glaring errors. Please do not do this! -- FPTI (talk) 05:20, 8 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

okay sir, thank you Mr. Snatch (talk) 22:00, 13 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Please place page numbers in the header/footer of pages

[edit]

Hello @Mr. Snatch,

When proofreading pages, as on e.g.~Page:Brinkley - China - Volume 2.djvu/139, please place the page number in the footer of the page, not in the page body. The same is true of other printing marks (like volume numbers), which should either be omitted, or also placed in the header/footer, as appropriate.

In addition, please take care to insert em-dashes, i.e. — symbols, when the OCR fails to spot them, which is common. Also please connect all words which are hyphenated solely due to the line of text ending. I appreciate that you have reconnected some of words, when removing line breaks, but have missed a few also.

Thanks for your efforts, TeysaKarlov (talk) 22:32, 26 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thank you sir, i will do that Mr. Snatch (talk) 23:48, 26 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
