Scotland Act 1998

[edit]

For your information I've proofread the rest of the contents of the Scotland Act 1998. I saw some typing errors at around page 20, so I recommend you to use OCR to deal with indices without text layer, where there is a button at the upper right-hand corner for your convenience.

Anyways, welcome to Wikisource and thanks for your contribution towards statute law!廣九直通車 (talk) 08:10, 19 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the 1973 UK acts volumes..

[edit]

There's also a list of UK Statutory Instrument volumes I compiled a while back? ( In places there is a choice of scans as I put some in comments as alternates).. Hathi appears to have a complete run from the 1890's ! up to 1992 when e-publishing took over. Wikisource can of course potentially host volumes up to 1973 ( based on a 50 year expiry of corwon copyrights.). Some volumes of SI were alreday uploaded (mostly so there were visual sources for Traffic sign diagrams people were working on at Commons.)..

In terms of Case Law there's also a list of The English Reports
ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 10:41, 6 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

If you had the time, finding the originals mentioned in The English Reports would be helpful as the Portal list is incomplete. :) ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 10:42, 6 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
I can certainly work on uploading the UK Statutory Instrument volumes, I haven't found the list you made, but I've found a few runs from different universities on Hathi to choose from, and other versions on Google Books. I can see if I can find those missing English Report volumes. I'm also looking for volumes of Local/Personal/Private UK Acts, which have less digital coverage unfortunately. If you have any insight on those that would be much appreciated! The poor coverage of local acts is what made me want to contribute to statue law. Penguin1737 (talk) 18:02, 6 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
You were working from the Statutes.org lists? The maintainer of that site was also active here from time to time ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 18:54, 6 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes I was. They mention some volumes have been digitized by the Oireachtas Library and those haven't been reviewed yet. Even with those, I suspect many years still need to be located, and some years need certain volumes. I'll continue to search. Penguin1737 (talk) 19:03, 6 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
See Portal:Secondary_Legislation_of_the_United_Kingdom for the Statutory Instruments list - It also possibly incomplete, as some of the volumes had not been opened up on Google/Hathi when the list was compiled.. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 18:58, 6 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
I've also amended a typo I made when linking The English Reports. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 18:59, 6 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Re SRO vbolumes, Thanks.. BTW You may wish to follow up on my pagelist checking, finding alternate scans as needed , but great effort so far , Looks like we have a MASSIVE project .. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 00:32, 8 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Definitely, I'm going through and pulling a single scan for each year right now. I am also submitting public domain release requests as I come across ones which are locked on Google Books. I believe there should be two scans of all of these, one from UMich and one from Harvard, which should help with any poorly scanned pages. Penguin1737 (talk) 00:36, 8 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Templates...

[edit]

In terms of templates.. I've also been using {{uksi/disclaimer}}

This is NOT an official transcription of the Instrument, Rules, Order &c. concerned, and should in no way be considered as a controlled copy of the document in question.

Please use the official legislation.gov.uk for an authoritative version of legislation as it is currently in force within the United Kingdom.

This edition was transcribed by Wikisource contributors from:—

  1. A digitised copy of the original legislation.
  2. A digitised copy of the collated annual volumes or consolidations.
  3. An online copy of the text of the Instrument, Rules or Order concerned.

Status: This is the version as it was originally made or enacted. The transcription here may also not reflect revocations, amendments, or corrections made subsequent to publication of the source document from which it was transcribed.

Wikisource does not hold delegated or secondary legislation (such as Statutory Instruments, Rules or Orders), in a revised form.

and where possible putting the Explanatory note in the header of transcriptions. You might want to come up with one for Primary legislation as well. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 19:27, 9 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Shouldn't be too difficult to create a disclaimer for acts. Penguin1737 (talk) 20:44, 9 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

SRO and SI 1929 onward..

[edit]

From 1929 onward it would unless I find page errors, best if we use the UCAL prefixed scans.? You might need to file unlock requests with Google though.. I suggest pausing uploads for a bit to allow that to happen, alternately , Are these are Hathi? I note these, which Hathi was reviewing, You might want to ask them about this.

Hathi catlog records:

- Most locked at Hathi , but possibly unlocked on Google.

ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 20:18, 9 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

I think we can certainly use UCAL's scans, hopefully they're better than others. I'll review each of these lists and submit the unlock requests with Google for the ones that need it, and if any UCAL ones are already unlocked, I'll upload those. For 1929, I'll overwrite my file on Commons to the UCAL scan when it unlocks so they are standardized. Penguin1737 (talk) 20:42, 9 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

UK laws..

[edit]

See also : - https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Portal:English_Statutes
and the Portals linked.. You may wish to retitle your compiling of Local Acts?
ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 18:46, 13 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

I was intending for the Portal:Primary Legislation of the United Kingdom to exist as a list of the scans of compiled volumes, like the Secondary Legislation portal is. That may be confusing though, perhaps I’ll change the title to Portal:Compiled Volumes of Primary Legislation of the United Kingdom or something of that vein to avoid future confusion. The Portal:Acts of the Parliament of the United Kingdom should be where individual transcluded acts should be listed, as far as I’m aware. Penguin1737 (talk) 19:03, 13 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Renamed to Portal:Collated Volumes of Primary Legislation of the United Kingdom. Penguin1737 (talk) 19:54, 13 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
