Wasps and Knights

[edit]

Dear SVeach,

As the recreation notice indicated, "The Knights" was deleted as a copyright violation. "The Wasps" wouldn't have given a notice, but it would be a copyright violation, as it belonged to the same group (same translator and annotators) as the six specifically determined at the possible copyright violation discussion. As a courtesy to you I will leave "The Wasps" up for two weeks in case you need a copy of the text for the purpose of resubmitting the text in a non-copyrighted form. The links at The Knights (Aristophanes) (it's a red link but it has content) should explain my meaning. If you need assistance or you would like me to restore "The Knights" for the same purpose I described for "The Wasps", feel free to leave a note on my talk page.

SVeach, since you seemed eager to replace these documents, I guess I should have warned you that I needed to delete the old version of "The Wasps" before you added a new version as we customarily delete copyrighted material entirely to insure we're not in copyright breach. I will have to do that within two weeks, or earlier if you tell me you're ready. You can re-add the work by cutting it before I delete it and pasting it in after I delete it if you're still interested. That will insure that your user name is attached to the contribution. Your old contributions with the copyrighted material would be listed as "deleted edits". ResScholar (talk) 22:51, 10 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
Alright, no problem. I cut and pasted a copy of the Gutenberg version to Microsoft Word; you can go ahead and delete the infringing one now. SVeach94 (talk) 23:03, 10 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Euripides plays

[edit]

Dear SVeach,

Unfortunately the Euripides plays you contributed pose a similar problem. They appear to be post-1913 editions of Coleridge translations. The annotations in fact match a 1952 edition of the translations, so there are grounds for suspecting the publication date is late enough to be a copyright problem. I will give you the two weeks I mentioned above to provide the publication dates, then I will have to nominate them for Possible copyright violations discussion, where their status will be determined and deleted if necessary. Check the Author:Euripides and The Bacchantes's source page for copyright-free editions, if you are looking for some to use to revise your works. Again, if you need assistance, feel free to leave a note on my talk page.

I believe I have found suitable replacements for all three; you can delete them all right now if you want. SVeach94 (talk) 23:04, 10 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
Before deleting possible copyright violations, they have to be open for discussion at WS:COPYVIO. Since "The Wasps" belonged to the same group of possible copyvios that were discussed, I didn't feel the need to bring it up there. But the Euripides plays are a new situation so I placed them at WS:COPYVIO. They are part of group with your three and two others. I described the situation of these works there, and the discussion has to be open for at least two weeks. But I don't forsee any strong objections to these deletions, so I doubt the discussion will last any longer than two weeks. ResScholar (talk) 00:32, 12 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
Hi again, I'm planning to close the Euripides copyvio discussion soon, if someone doesn't beat me to it. I just wanted to let you know I moved the Coleridge Euripides scans from Index:The Plays of Euripides Vol. 2- Edward P. Coleridge (1907).djvu to Index:The Plays of Euripides Vol. 2- Edward P. Coleridge (1913).djvu, if you want to use them. Some pages were missing from the 1907 scans. ResScholar (talk) 05:53, 1 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

The source

[edit]

Re: "nevermind": The "source" being a Gutenberg text? or a Gilbert Murray translation? If the former, there is a source available at Archive.org that could be added to Commons (but not by me, who messes those things up)...? Londonjackbooks (talk) 15:53, 15 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Oh no, haha, the source is fine. I just didn't feel like copying and pasting it only to have to space every. Single. Line. SVeach94 (talk) 17:33, 15 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
Oh, you mean because it's in "poetry" format (probably wrong term)? There must be some gadgety/scripty (regex) way of making the line spacing, etc. easier... but I am only vaguely familiar with the technique(s) and choose (for now, anyway) to space every. Single. Line. the old-fashioned way... :) Londonjackbooks (talk) 17:42, 15 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Frank Coffee

[edit]

I did a bit of a hunt around, and I have identified Frank Coffee, got some basic data, created an author page, and I have relinked the chapters to have an active author. — billinghurst sDrewth 11:08, 23 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the assistance. Any help transferring the book would be welcome too. :P SVeach94 (talk) 20:17, 23 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
