Notes
[edit]I started the slow process of scanning and placing Francis W. Halsey's 1901 history, The Old New York Frontier, into Wikisource. It's likely to be a long-term project, as I'm sure I'll get side-tracked by the various topics.
I put James Fenimore Cooper's novel, The Pioneers, into Wikisource. There are already many copies of the book on line, but none have been too well proof-read -- they have lots of OCR errors, which I'm trying to fix as I go along. I assume that most come from the same source -- probably project Gutenberg. Most of the on-line versions are apparently from the 1832 edition of the book, which has a lot of minor deletions an rewordings as compared to the 1823 edition. See Talk:The Pioneers for the sources.
I also included James Fenimore Cooper's The Deerslayer
I recently ported over the History of Edmeston, New York article from Wikipedia. It's all here, but there were a lot of links to other Wikipedia articles that need to be fixed, so there is a lot of red on most of the pages. There are also a lot of pictures that I plan to include that were not in the Wikipedia version.

Special characters
[edit]Now that Mediawiki supports UTF-8, many of these can be entered directly into articles, without the HTML markup. On many wikis, a tool appears under the edit box to make this easier. See m:Help:Special characters.
