- I created the index page because Help:Match and split says it only works with djvu files, but it turns out that SodiumBot can also match and split pdf files, so it's now just a duplicate of Index:Iola Leroy, or, Shadows uplifted (IA lolaleroyshadow00harprich).pdf. Collaboration proposal
[edit]Hello! Would you have any interest in collaborating on Orlando? I would love to work on this book, but it would be nice to have some collaboration to make it a bit more social and keep up the motivation! Nosferattus (talk) 23:15, 21 September 2024 (UTC)
- Sure. I nominated it for the monthly challenge, which would give it more attention, but that nomination is on hold since the OCR text is misaligned. It's already transcribed on Project Gutenberg Australia, so I wonder if it would be faster to match and split that version, proofread ours, and then use the "show changes" button to check for errors. At least that's what I'm doing for Progress and Poverty. Prospectprospekt (talk) 23:58, 21 September 2024 (UTC)
- Hmm, it looks like the Project Gutenberg transcription has a lot of differences with our text, but some of those differences are due to our scan being the 1928 New York edition which has lots of differences from the 1928 London edition. Of the first 3 changes I notice (all of which are grammatical changes), 2 match the London edition, so it might be based on that one. Might be better just to OCR from scratch and then compare against the Gutenberg transcription for error checking. What are your thoughts? Nosferattus (talk) 01:01, 22 September 2024 (UTC)

- Oh, that would be handy. The more I look at this edition, the more I think we shouldn't use the Gutenberg transcription. This New York edition has tons of little changes (and a few errors like "Snowden" instead of "Snowdon"). The Gutenberg transcription is much closer to the London edition.
