Page status trouble

If you purge the page, by visiting https://en.wikisource.org/w/index.php?title=Index_talk:Niger_Delta_Ecosystems-_the_ERA_Handbook,_1998.djvu&action=purge and clicking "OK", it should work. It's a pain to have to do, but it does seem to work every time. Inductiveload—talk/contribs 19:54, 22 August 2017 (UTC)

Sections

@Susi Arnott: Do you know how you want to split up this work? For example do you want all of Section 1 "Prologue" on a single page, or do you want each subsection 1.1, 1.2, etc on separate pages? Yes, but the original document is in sections and subsections. So it can be transcluded in one of the two following methods:

Niger Delta Ecosystems: the ERA Handbook Niger Delta Ecosystems: the ERA Handbook/Prologue Niger Delta Ecosystems: the ERA Handbook/Introduction Niger Delta Ecosystems: the ERA Handbook/What is the Environment? ...

or

Niger Delta Ecosystems: the ERA Handbook Niger Delta Ecosystems: the ERA Handbook/Prologue Niger Delta Ecosystems: the ERA Handbook/Prologue/The First Edition Niger Delta Ecosystems: the ERA Handbook/Prologue/The Online Edition ... Niger Delta Ecosystems: the ERA Handbook/Introduction Niger Delta Ecosystems: the ERA Handbook/Introduction/What is Era? ...

I keep thinking I've replied to this! Already losing rudimentary wiki-language :) The last few months have shown me just how much work the community invests in this important global resource. Sounds like I'll need to find and ringfence some more days for this new process, before too long. Could you confirm how many other stages or processes there are to go through, before the book is available online? @Susi Arnott: This step is called Transclusion. It is the stage where we take the proofread text and make it available online. For this reason, it is the very last step before the book is available online. Besides transclusion, the only other step remaining is Validation; validation can occur after the book is available online. (Also: validation can not be done by the person who did the Proofreading step, so you will just have to leave it alone and let someone else take care of validation.) —Beleg Tâl (talk) 13:38, 5 September 2017 (UTC)

Thanks yet again, Beleg. Had a good long go at this today, but stumped at the end by problematic index pages. Jiggled around some of the proof-reading discrepancies, tried calling the section 'Subject index' in case the special Wiki meaning of 'Index' was a problem, and even tried dividing it into 2 sections in case it was too long without the original columns. Well done. The index page problem is happening because there are too many templates-within-templates-within-templates. Splitting it into smaller sections should fix it, but it might be worth asking on WS:Scriptorium/Help to see if anyone can make it all transclude properly. —Beleg Tâl (talk) 17:20, 6 September 2017 (UTC)

Dear Beleg Tal - or anyone; been away for 10 days and can't tell whether all the transclusion up until problematic index pages has been 'undone' or is still extant. Awful to fall at this final hurdle but I simply don't know what to do now. Beginner's Guide starts with 'make a new page' but I can't remember how, and the ones I did before might still be in place for all I know. Can anyone help? Now trying to add Categories; but Help:Categorisation assumes you know where to type stuff in. "Non-fiction books", "Ecology", "1998" and "CC BY SA" (or "Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Licence") would be the four main categories they describe. Thanks for any guidance. The date and license categories were already in; find categories listed at the bottom of the page. I have added "Ecology" and "Niger". "Non-fiction" isn't necessary unless there is no subcategory (e.g. Ecology) available. --EncycloPetey (talk) 18:17, 17 September 2017 (UTC)

I'm not sure what you mean about submitting the Author page, but the work is already announced on the Main Page as a New Text. And any completed work can be added to a Portal, if a suitable Portal exists, but it isn't necessary. And for some subject areas there just isn't much information here yet, and so no Portal has been started. --EncycloPetey (talk) 19:26, 17 September 2017 (UTC)
