He was born 19 February 1768 in Wolver Hollow, Nassau County, New York, United States to Frederick Cassou (c1726-?) and Maragriete Hardenburg (1728-?) and he died 27 September 1816 in Hempstead, New York, United States at age 48. He married as his first wife, Hendericke Hageman (1772-c1795) circa 1787. He married as his second wife, Maratje Bennet (1774-1830) circa 1798 in Oyster Bay, Nassau County, New York, United States. "Wheras the said Rem Cashow of North Hempstead as is alleged, lately died intestate, having, whilst living, and at the time of his death, Goods, Chattels, or Credits within this State, by means whereof, the ordering and granting Administration of all and singular the said Goods, Chattels, and Credits; and also the auditing, allowing, and final discharging the Account thereof, doth appertain unto us; and we being desirous that the Goods, Chattels, and Credits of the said deceased may be well and faithfully administered, applied, and disposed of, do grant unto you the said Mary Cashow and Thomas Wood (during the Minority of Nicholas, Hendrick, Phebe, Jane, and Abraham, his children, full power, by these presents, to administer, and faithfully dispose of, all and singular the said Goods, Chattels, and Credits."
