Chapter 1

1The words of Neemias the son of Chelcia. And it came to pass in the month Chaseleu, of the twentieth year, that I was in Susan the palace.	λόγοι Νεεμίου υιόυ Χαλκίου και εγένετο εν μηνί Χασελεύ έτους εικοστού και εγώ ήμην εν Σουσάν Αβιρά
2And Anani, one of my brethren, came, he and some men of Juda; and I asked them concerning those that had escaped, who had been left of the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem.	και ήλθεν Ανανί εις από αδελφών μου αυτός και άνδρες Ιούδα και ηρώτησα αυτούς περί των Ιουδαίων των διασωθέντων οι κατελείφθησαν από της αιχμαλωσίας και περί Ιερουσαλήμ
3And they said to me, The remnant, even those that are left of the captivity, are there in the land, in great distress and reproach: and the walls of Jerusalem are thrown down, and its gates are burnt with fire.	και είπον προς με οι υπολελειμμένοι οι καταλειφθέντες από της αιχμαλωσίας εκεί εν τη χώρα εν πονηρία μεγάλη και εν ονειδισμώ και τα τείχη Ιερουσαλήμ καθηρημένα και πύλαι αυτής ενεπρήσθησαν εν πυρί
4And it came to pass, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned for several days, and continued fasting and praying before the God of heaven.	και εγένετο εν τω ακούσαί με τους λόγους τούτους εκάθισα και έκλαυσα και επένθησα ημέρας και ήμην νηστεύων και προσευχόμενος ενώπιον του θεού του ουρανού
5And I said, Nay, I pray thee, O Lord God of heaven, the mighty, the great and terrible, keeping thy covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to those that keep his commandments:	και είπα ω δη κύριε ο θεός του ουρανού ο ισχυρός και μέγας και φοβερός φυλάσσων την διαθήκην και το έλεος τοις αγαπώσιν αυτόν και τοις φυλάσσουσι τας εντολάς αυτού
6let now thine ear be attentive, and thine eyes open, that thou mayest hear the prayer of thy servant, which I pray before thee at this time, this day both day and night, for the children of Israel thy servants, and make confession for the sins of the children of Israel, which we have sinned against thee: both I and the house of my father have sinned.	έστω δη το ους σου προσέχον και οι οφθαλμοί σου ανεωγμένοι του ακούσαι προσευχήν του δούλου σου ην εγώ προσεύχομαι ενώπιόν σου σήμερον ημέραν και νύκτα περί υιών Ισραήλ δούλων σου και εξαγορεύω επί αμαρτίαις υιών Ισραήλ αις ημάρτομέν σοι και εγώ και ο οίκος του πατρός μου ημάρτομεν
7We have altogether broken covenant with thee, and we have not kept the commandments, and the ordinances, and the judgments, which thou didst command thy servant Moses.	διαλύσει διελύσαμεν προς σε και ουκ εφυλαξάμεν τας εντολάς και τα προστάγματα και τα κρίματα α ενετείλω τω Μωυσή παιδί σου
8Remember, I pray thee, the word wherewith thou didst charge thy servant Moses, saying, If ye break covenant with me, I will disperse you among the nations.	μνήσθητι δη τον λόγον ον ενετείλω Μωυσή τω παιδί σου λέγων εάν ασυνθετήσητε υμείς εγώ διασκορπιώ υμάς εν τοις λαοίς
9But if ye turn again to me, and keep my commandments, and do them; if ye should be scattered under the utmost bound of heaven, thence will I gather them, and I will bring them into the place which I have chosen to cause my name to dwell there.	και εάν επιστρέψητε προς με και φυλάξητε τας εντολάς μου και ποιήσητε αυτάς και εάν η η διασπορά υμών εως άκρου του ουρανού εκείθεν συνάξω αυτούς και εισάξω αυτούς εις τον τόπον ον εξελεξάμην κατασκηνώσαι το όνομά μου εκεί
10Now they are thy servants and thy people, whom thou hast redeemed with thy great power, and with thy strong hand.	και αυτοί παίδές σου και λαός σου ους ελυτρώσω εν τη δυνάμει σου τη μεγάλη και εν τη χειρί σου τη κραταιά
11Turn not away, I pray thee, O Lord, but let thine ear be attentive to the prayer of thy servant, and to the prayer of thy servants, who desire to fear thy name: and prosper, I pray thee, thy servant this day, and cause him to find mercy in the sight of this man. Now I was the king's cup-bearer.	δη κύριε έστω το ους σου προσέχον εις την προσευχήν του δούλου σου και εις την προσευχήν παίδων σου των θελόντων φοβείσθαι το όνομά σου και ευόδωσον δη τω παιδί σου σήμερον και δος αυτόν εις οικτιρμούς ενώπιον του ανδρός τούτου και εγώ ήμην οινοχόος τω βασιλεί

Chapter 2

1And it came to pass in the month Nisan of the twentieth year of king Arthasastha, that the wine was before me: and I took the wine, and gave it to the king: and there was not another before him.	και εγένετο εν μηνί Νισάν έτους εικοστού Αρθασασθά βασιλεί και ην ο οίνος ενώπιον αυτού και έλαβον τον οίνον και έδωκα τω βασιλεί και ουκ ην έτερος ενώπιον αυτού
2And the king said to me, Why is thy countenance sad, and dost thou not control thyself? and now this is nothing but sorrow of heart. Then I was very much alarmed,	και είπέ μοι ο βασιλεύς διατί το πρόσωπόν σου πονηρόν και ουκ ει μετριάζων και ουκ έστι τούτο ει πονηρία καρδίας και εφοβήθην πολύ σφόδρα
3and I said to the king, Let the king live for ever: why should not my countenance be said, forasmuch as the city, even the home of the sepulchres of my fathers, has been laid waste, and her gates have been devoured with fire?	και είπα τω βασιλεί ο βασιλεύς εις τον αιώνα ζήτω διατί ου γένηται πονηρόν το πρόσωπόν μου διότι η πόλις οίκος μνημείων πατέρων μου ηρημώθη και αι πύλαι αυτής κατεβρώθησαν εν πυρί
4And the king said to me, For what dost thou ask thus? So I prayed to the God of heaven.	και είπέ μοι ο βασιλεύς περί τίνος τούτο συ ζητείς και προσηυξάμην προς κύριον θεόν του ουρανού
5And I said to the king, If it seem good to the king, and if thy servant shall have found favour in thy sight, I ask that thou wouldest send him into Juda, to the city of the sepulchres of my fathers; then will I rebuild it.	και είπα τω βασιλεί ει επί τον βασιλέα αγαθόν και ει αγαθυνθήσεται ο παις σου ενώπιόν σου ώστε πέμψαι αυτόν εν Ιούδα εις πόλιν μνημείων πατέρων μου και ανοικοδομήσω αυτήν
6And the king, and his concubine that sat next to him, said to me, For how long will thy journey be, and when wilt thou return? and the proposal was pleasing before the king, and he sent me away, and I appointed him a time.	και είπέ μοι ο βασιλεύς και η παλλακή η καθημένη εχόμενα αυτού έως πότε έσται η πορεία σου και πότε επιστρέψεις και ηγαθύνθη ενώπιον του βασιλέως και απέστειλέ με και έδωκα αυτώ όρον
7And I said to the king, If it seem good to the king, let him give me letters to the governors beyond the river, so as to forward me till I come to Juda;	και είπα τω βασιλεί ει επί τον βασιλέα αγαθόν δότω μοι επιστολάς προς τους επάρχους πέραν του ποταμού ώστε παραγαγείν με έως έλθω επί Ιούδαν
8and a letter to Asaph the keeper of the garden which belongs to the king, that he may give me timber to cover the gates, and for the wall of the city, and for the house into which I shall enter. And the king gave to me, according as the good hand of God was upon me.	και επιστολήν επί Ασάφ φύλακα του παραδείσου ος εστι τω βασιλεί ώστε δούναί μοι ξύλα στεγάσαι τας πύλας της βάρεως του οίκου και εις το τείχος της πόλεως και εις οίκον εις ον εισελεύσομαι προς αυτόν και έδωκέ μοι ο βασιλεύς ως χειρ θεού η αγαθή επ΄ εμέ
9And I came to the governors beyond the river, and I gave them the king's letters. (Now the king had sent with me captains of the army and horsemen.)	και ήλθον προς τους επάρχους πέραν του ποταμού και έδωκα αυτοίς τας επιστολάς του βασιλέως και απέστειλε μετ΄ εμού ο βασιλεύς αρχηγούς δυνάμεως και ιππείς
10And Sanaballat the Aronite heard it, and Tobia the servant, the Ammonite, and it was grievous to them that a man was come to seek good for the children of Israel.	και ήκουσε Σαναβαλάτ ο Αρωνί και Τωβίας ο δούλος ο Αμμωνί και πονηρόν αυτοίς εγένετο και ελυπήθησαν ότι ήκει άνθρωπος ζητήσαι αγαθόν τοις υιοίς Ισραήλ
11So I came to Jerusalem, and was there three days.	και ήλθον εις Ιερουσαλήμ και ήμην εκεί ημέρας τρεις
12And I rose up by night, I and a few men with me; and I told no man what God put into my heart to do with Israel; and there was no beast with me, except the beast which I rode upon.	και ανέστην νυκτός εγώ και άνδρες ολίγοι μετ΄ εμού και ουκ απήγγειλα ανθρώπω ότι ο θεός δίδωσι εις καρδίαν μου του ποιήσαι μετά του Ιερουσαλήμ και κτήνος ουκ έστι μετ΄ εμού ειμή το κτήνος ο εγώ επιβαίνω επ΄ αυτώ
13And I went forth by the gate of the valley by night, and to the mouth of the well of fig trees, and to the dung-gate: and I mourned over the wall of Jerusalem which they were destroying, and her gates were devoured with fire.	και εξήλθον διά της πύλης του Γαιϊ νυκτός προς στόμα πηγής του δράκοντος και εις πύλην της κοπρίας και ήμην κατανοών τοις τείχεσιν Ιερουσαλήμ τοις κατεσπασμένοις και ταις πύλαις αυτής ταις ανηλωμέναις πυρί
14And I passed on to the fountain gate, and to the king's pool; and there was no room for the beast to pass under me.	και παρήλθον επί πύλην του πηγής και εις κολυμβήθραν του βασιλέως και ουκ ην τόπος τω κτήνει παρελθείν υποκάτω μου
15And I went up by the wall of the brook by night, and mourned over the wall, and passed through the gate of the valley, and returned.	και ήμην αναβαίνων διά του χειμάρρου νυκτός και ήμην κατανοών τω τείχει και ήμην εν τη πύλη της φάραγγος και επέστρεψα
16And the sentinels knew not why I went, nor what I was doing; and until that time I told it not to the Jews, or to the priests, or to the nobles, or to the captains, or to the rest of the men who wrought the works.	και οι φυλάσσοντες ουκ έγνωσαν τι επορεύθην και τι εγώ ποιώ και τοις Ιουδαίοις και τοις ιερεύσι και τοις εντίμοις και τοις στρατηγοίς και τοις καταλοίποις τοις ποιούσι τα έργα έως τότε ουκ απήγγειλα
17Then I said to them, Ye see this evil, in which we are, how Jerusalem is desolate, and her gates have been set on fire: come, and let us build throughout the wall of Jerusalem, and we shall be no longer a reproach.	και είπα προς αυτούς υμείς βλέπετε την πονηρίαν ταύτην εν η εσμέν εν αυτή πως Ιερουσαλήμ έρημος και αι πύλαι αυτής εδόθησαν πυρί δεύτε και διοικοδομήσωμεν το τείχος Ιερουσαλήμ και ουκ εσόμεθα έτι όνειδος
18And I told them of the hand of God which was good upon me, also about the words of the king which he spoke to me: and I said, Let us arise and build. And their hands were strengthened for the good work.	και απήγγειλα αυτοίς την χείρα του θεού η εστιν αγαθή επ΄ εμέ και τους λόγους του βασιλέως ους είπέ μοι και είπον αναστώμεν και οικοδομήσωμεν και εκραταιώθησαν αι χείρες αυτών εις το αγαθόν
19And Sanaballat the Aronite, and Tobia the servant, the Ammonite, and Gesam the Arabian, heard it, and they laughed us to scorn, and came to us, and said, What is this thing that ye are doing? are ye revolting against the king?	και ήκουσε Σαναβαλάτ ο Αρωνί και Τωβίας ο δούλος ο Αμμωνί και Γησάμ ο Αραβί και εξεγέλασαν ημάς και κατεφρόνουν ημών και είπον τι το ρήμα τούτο ο υμείς ποιείτε η επί τον βασιλέα υμείς αποστατείτε
20And I answered them, and said to them, The God of heaven, he shall prosper us, and we his servants are pure, and we will build: but ye have no part, nor right, nor memorial, in Jerusalem.	και επέστρεψα αυτοίς λόγον και είπον αυτοίς ο θεός του ουρανού αυτός ευοδώσει ημίν και ημείς δούλοι αυτού καθαροί και αναστησόμεθα και οικοδομήσομεν και υμίν ουκ έστι μερίς και δικαιοσύνη και μνημόσυνον εν Ιερουσαλήμ

Chapter 3

1Then Eliasub the high priest, and his brethren the priests, rose up, and built the sheep-gate; they sanctified it, and set up the doors of it; even to the tower of the hundred they sanctified it, to the tower of Anameel.	και ανέστη Ελιασούβ ο ιερεύς ο μέγας και οι αδελφοί αυτού οι ιερείς και ωκοδόμησαν την πύλην την προβατικήν αυτοί ηγίασαν αυτήν και έστησαν θύρας αυτής και έως πύργου των εκατόν ηγίασαν αυτόν έως πύργου Ανανεήλ
2And they builded by the side of the men of Jericho, and by the side of the sons of Zacchur, the son of Amari.	και επί χείρας αυτού ωκοδόμησαν άνδρες Ιεριχώ και επί χείρας αυτού ωκοδόμησεν Ζακχούρ υιόυ Αμαρί
3And the sons of Asana built the fish-gate; they roofed it, and covered in its doors, and bolts, and bars.	και την πύλην την ιχθυηράν ωκοδόμησαν υιοί Ασανά αυτοί εστέγασαν αυτήν και έστησαν θύρας αυτής και κλείθρα αυτής και μοχλούς αυτής
4And next to them the order reached to Ramoth the son of Uria, the son of Accos, and next to them Mosollam son of Barachias the son of Mazebel took his place: and next to them Sadoc the son of Baana took his place.	και επί χείρας αυτών κατέσχεν Μαριμώθ υιός Ουρία υιόυ Ακκώς και επί χείρα αυτών κατέσχε Μοσολάμ υιός Βαραχίου υιόυ Μασεζουβήλ και επί χείρα αυτών κατέσχε Σαδώκ υιός Βαανά
5And next to them the Thecoim took their place; but the Adorim applied not their neck to their service.	και επί χείρα αυτών κατέσχον οι Θεκωείμ και ισχυροί αυτών ουκ εισήνεγκαν τράχηλον αυτών εις δουλείαν του κυρίου αυτών
6And Joida the son of Phasec, and Mesulam son of Basodia, repaired the old gate; they covered it in, and set up its doors, and its bolts, and its bars.	και την πύλην του Ιασανά εκράτησαν ωϊδα υιός Φασέκ και Μεσουλάμ υιός Βασωδία αυτοί εστέγασαν αυτήν και έστησαν θύρας αυτής και κλείθρα αυτής και μοχλούς αυτής
7And next to them repaired Maltias the Gabaonite, and Evaron the Meronothite, the men of Gabaon and Maspha, to the throne of the governor on this side the river.	και επί χείρα αυτών εκράτησε Μαλτίας ο Γαβαωνίτης και Ευαρών ο Μηρωνωθίτης άνδρες της Γαβαών και της Μασσηφά έως θρόνου του άρχοντος του πέραν του ποταμού
8And next to him Oziel the son of Arachias of the smiths, carried on the repairs: and next to them Ananias the son of one of the apothecaries repaired, and they finished Jerusalem to the broad wall.	και επί χείρα αυτών εκραταίωσαν Οζϊήλ υιός Αραχίου πυρωτών και επί χείρα αυτού εκραταίωσεν Ανανίας υιός των μυρεψών και έθηκαν Ιερουσαλήμ έως του τείχους του πλατέος
9And next to them repaired Raphaea the son of Sur, the ruler of half the district round about Jerusalem.	και επί χείρα αυτών εκραταίωσεν Ραφαϊας υιός Σουρ άρχων ημίσους περιχώρου Ιερουσαλήμ
10And next to them repaired Jedaia the son of Eromaph, and that in front of his house: and next to him repaired Attuth son of Asabania.	και επί χείρα αυτών εκράτησεν Ιεδαϊας υιός Ερωμάφ και κατέναντι οικίας αυτού και επί χείρα αυτού εκράτησεν Άττους υιός Ασαβανία
11And next to him repaired Melchias son of Heram, and Asub son of Phaat Moab, even to the tower of the furnaces.	και μέτρον δεύτερον εκράτησε Μελχίας υιός Ηράμ και Ασούβ υιός Φαάτ και έως πύργου των θαναρείμ
12And next to him repaired Sallum the son of Alloes, the ruler of half the district round about Jerusalem, he and his daughters.	και επί χείρα αυτού εκράτησε Σαλλούμ υιός Αλλώης άρχων ημίσους περιχώρου Ιερουσαλήμ αυτός και αι θυγατέρες αυτού
13Anun and the inhabitants of Zano repaired the gate of the valley: they built it, and set up its doors, and its bolts, and its bars, and a thousand cubits of the wall as far as the dung-gate.	την πύλην της φάραγγος εκράτησαν Ανούν και οι κατοικούντες Ζανώ αυτοί ωκοδόμησαν αυτήν και έστησαν θύρας αυτής και κλείθρα αυτής και μοχλούς αυτής και χίλιοι πήχεις εν τω τείχει έως της πύλης της κοπρίας
14And Melchia the son of Rechab, the ruler of the district round about Beth-accharim, repaired the dung-gate, he and his sons; and they covered it, and set up its doors, and its bolts, and its bars.	και την πύλην της κοπρίας εκράτησε Μελχίας υιός Ρηχάβ άρχων περιχώρου βηθαχχαράμ αυτός και οι υιοί αυτού και εσκέπασαν αυτήν και έστησαν θύρας αυτής και κλείθρα αυτής και μοχλούς αυτής
15But Solomon the son of Choleze repaired the gate of the fountain, the ruler of part of Maspha; he built it, and covered it, and set up its doors and its bars, and the wall of the pool of the skins by the meadow of the king, and as far as the steps that lead down from the city of David.	την δε πύλην της πηγής ησφαλίσατο Σολών υιός Χολεζέ άρχων μέρους της Μασσηφά αυτός εξωκοδόμησεν αυτήν και εστέγασεν αυτήν και έστησε τας θύρας αυτής και μοχλούς αυτής και το τείχος της κολυμβήθρας του Σιλωά εις τον κήπον του βασιλέως και έως των κλιμάκων των καταβαινόντων από πόλεως Δαυίδ
16After him repaired Neemias son of Azabuch, ruler of half the district round about Bethsur, as far as the garden of David's sepulchre, and as far as the artificial pool, and as far as the house of the mighty men.	οπίσω αυτού εκράτησε Νεεμίας υιός Εζβούχ άρχων ημίσους περιχώρου Βηθσούρ έως κήπου τάφου Δαυίδ και έως της κολυμβήθρας της γεγονυίας και έως οίκου των δυνατών
17After him repaired the Levites, even Raum the son of Bani: next to him repaired Asabia, ruler of half the district round about Keila, in his district.	οπίσω αυτού εκράτησαν οι Λευίται Ραούμ υιός Βανέα επί χείρα αυτού εκράτησεν Ασαβίας άρχων ημίσους περιχώρου Κειλά τω περιχώρω αυτού
18And after him repaired his brethren, Benei son of Enadad, ruler of half the district round about Keila.	και μετ΄ αυτόν εκράτησαν αδελφοί αυτών Βεβαϊ υιός Ηδανάδ άρχων ημίσους περιχώρου Κειλά
19And next to him repaired Azur the son of Joshua, ruler of Masphai, another portion of the tower of ascent, where it meets the corner.	και εκράτησεν επί χείρα αυτού Αζούρ υιός Ιησού άρχων του Μασσηφά μέτρον δεύτερον εξεναντίας αναβάσεως των όπλων της συναπτούσης εις την γωνίαν
20After him repaired Baruch the son of Zabu, a second portion, from the corner as far as the door of the house of Eliasub the high priest.	μετ΄ αυτόν εκράτησε Βαρούχ υιός Ζαβού μέτρον δεύτερον από της γωνίας έως θύρας οίκου Ελιασούβ του ιερέως του μεγάλου
21After him repaired Meramoth the son of Uria the son of Accos, a second part from the door of the house of Eliasub, to the end of the house of Eliasub.	και μετ΄ αυτόν εκράτησε Μεραμώθ υιός Ουρία υιόυ Ακκώς μέτρον δεύτερον από θύρας οίκου Ελιασούβ έως συντελείας οίκου Ελιασούβ
22And after him repaired the priests, the men of Ecchechar.	και μετ΄ αυτόν εκράτησαν οι ιερείς άνδρες Αχεχάρ
23And after him repaired Benjamin and Asub over against their house: and after him repaired Azarias son of Maasias the son of Ananias, the parts near to his house.	και μετ΄ αυτόν εκράτησε Βενιαμίν και Ασούβ κατέναντι οίκου αυτών και μετ΄ αυτούς εκράτησεν Αζαρίας υιός Μαασέου υιόυ Ανανίου εχόμενα οίκου αυτού
24After him repaired Bani the son of Adad, another portion from the house of Azaria as far as the corner and to the turning,	και μετ΄ αυτόν εκράτησε Βαανί υιός Ηνναδάδ μέτρον δεύτερον από οίκου Αζαρίου έως της γωνίας και έως της καμπής
25of Phalach the son of Uzai, opposite the corner, and where is also the tower that projects from the king's house, even the upper one of the prison-house: and after him repaired Phadaea the son of Phoros.	Φαλάλι υιόυ Ουζαϊ εξεναντίας της γωνίας και του πύργου ο εξέχοντος εκ του οίκου του βασιλέως ανώτερος της αυλής της φυλακής και μετ΄ αυτόν Φαδαϊα υιός Φόρος
26And the Nathinim dwelt in Ophal, as far as the garden of the water-gate eastward, and there is the projecting tower.	και οι Ναθηνίμ ήσαν οικούντες εν τω Ωφάλ έως απέναντι κήπου πύλης του ύδατος εις ανατολάς και ο πύργος ο εξέχων
27And after them the Thecoim repaired, another portion opposite the great projecting tower, even as far as the wall of Ophla.	και μετ΄ αυτόν εκράτησαν οι Θεκωείμ μέτρον δεύτερον εξεναντίας του πύργου του μεγάλου του εξέχοντος και έως του τείχους του Αφλά
28The priests repaired above the horse-gate, every man over against his own house.	ανώτερον πύλης των ίππων εκράτησαν οι ιερείς ανήρ εξεναντίας οίκου εαυτού
29And after him Sadduc the son of Emmer repaired opposite his own house: and after him repaired Samaea son of Sechenia, guard of the east-gate.	και μετ΄ αυτόν εκράτησε Σαδώκ υιός Εμμήρ εξεναντίας οίκου εαυτού και μετ΄ αυτόν εκράτησε Σαμαϊα υιός Σεχενία φύλαξ της πύλης της ανατολής
30After him repaired Anania son of Selemia, and Anom, the sixth son of Seleph, another portion: after him Mesulam the son of Barachia repaired over against his treasury.	και μετ΄ αυτόν εκράτησεν Ανανίας υιός Σελλεμία και Ανών υιός Σελέφ ο έκτος μέτρον δεύτερον και μετ΄ αυτόν εκράτησε Μεσολλάμ υιός Βαραχίου εξεναντίας γαζοφυλακίου αυτού
31After him repaired Melchia the son of Sarephi as far as the house of the Nathinim, and the chapmen over against the gate of Maphecad, and as far as the steps of the corner.	και μετ΄ αυτόν εκράτησε Μελχίας υιός του Σαρεφί έως οίκου των Ναθηναών και των μεταβόλων απέναντι πύλης του Μαφεκάδ και έως αναβάσεως της καμπής
32And between that and the sheep-gate the smiths and chapmen repaired.	και αναμέσον της αναβάσεως της πύλης της προβατικής εκράτησαν οι χαλκείς και οι μετάβολοι

Chapter 4

1Now it came to pass, when Sanaballat heard that we were building the wall, that it was grievous to him, and he was very angry, and railed against the Jews.	και εγένετο ηνίκα ήκουσε Σαναβαλάτ ότι ημείς οικοδομούμεν το τείχος και πονηρόν ην αυτώ και ωργίσθη επί πολύ και εξεγέλα επί τοις Ιουδαίοις
2And he said before his brethren (that is the army of the Samaritans) Is it true that these Jews are building their city? do they indeed offer sacrifices? will they prevail? and will they this day restore the stones, after they have been burnt and made a heap of rubbish?	και είπεν ενώπιον των αδελφών αυτού και της δυνάμεως Σαμαρείας και είπεν τι οι Ουδαμινοί ούτοι ποιούσιν οι Ιουδαίοι μη καταλείψομεν αυτούς άρα θυσιάζουσιν άρα δυνήσονται και σήμερον ιάσονται τους λίθους μετά το χώμα γενέσθαι καυθέντας
3And Tobias the Ammanite came near to him, and said to them, Do they sacrifice or eat in their place? shall not a fox go up and pull down their wall of stones?	και Τωβίας ο Αμμανίτης εχόμενα αυτού και είπε προς αυτούς και γε αυτοί οικοδομούσιν ουχί αναβήσεται αλώπηξ και καθελεί το τείχος λίθων αυτών
4Hear, O our God, for we have become a scorn; and return thou their reproach upon their head, and make them a scorn in a land of captivity,	άκουσον ο θεός ημών ότι εγενήθημεν εις μυκτηρισμόν και επίστρεψον ονειδισμόν αυτών εις κεφαλήν αυτών και δος αυτούς εις μυκτηρισμόν εν γη αιχμαλωσίας
5and do not cover their iniquity.	και μη καλύψης επί ανομίαν αυτών και η αμαρτία αυτών εκ προσώπου σου μη εξαλειφθείη ότι παρώργισαν εναντίον των οικοδομούντων
6But it came to pass, when Sanaballat and Tobia, and the Arabians, and the Ammanites, heard that the building of the walls of Jerusalem was advancing, and that the breaches began to be stopped, that it appeared very grievous to them.	και ωκοδομήσαμεν το τείχος και συνήφθη παν το τείχος έως του ημίσους αυτού και εγένετο η καρδία του λαού ώστε οικοδομήσαι
7And all of them assembled together, to come to fight against Jerusalem, and to destroy it utterly.	και εγένετο ως ήκουσε Σαναβαλάτ και Τωβίας και οι Άραβες και οι Αμμανίται και οι Αζώτιοι ότι ανέβη η φυή τοις τείχεσιν Ιερουσαλήμ ότι ήρξαντο αι διασφαγαί αναφράσσεσθαι και πονηρόν αυτοίς εφάνη σφόδρα
8So we prayed to our God and set watchmen against them day and night, because of them.	και συνήχθησαν πάντες επί το αυτό ελθείν και παρατάξασθαι εν Ιερουσαλήμ και ποιήσαι αυτήν πλανήσι
9And Juda said, The strength of the enemies is broken, yet there is much rubbish, and we shall not be able to build the wall.	και προσηυξάμεθα προς τον θεόν ημών και εστήσαμεν προφύλακας επ΄ αυτούς ημέρας και νυκτός από προσώπου αυτών
10And they that afflicted us said, They shall not know, and they shall not see, until we come into the midst of them, and slay them, and cause the work to cease.	και είπεν Ιούδας συνετρίβη η ισχύς των εχθρών και ο χούς πολύς και ημείς ου δυνησόμεθα οικοδομείν εν τω τείχω
11And it came to pass, when the Jews who lived near them came, that they said to us, They are coming up against us from every quarter.	και είπον οι θλίβοντες ημάς ου γνώσονται και ουκ όψονται έως ότου έλθωμεν εις μέσον αυτών και φονεύσωμεν αυτούς και καταπαυσώμεν το έργον
12So I set men in the lowest part of the place behind the wall in the lurking-places, I even set the people according to their families, with their swords, their spears, and their bows.	και εγένετο ως ήλθον οι Ιουδαίοι οι οικούντες εχόμενα αυτών και είπον ημίν αναβαίνουσιν εκ πάντων των τόπων ότι επεστρέψατε εφ΄ ημάς
13And I looked, and arose, and said to the nobles, and to the captains, and to the rest of the people, Be not afraid of them: remember our great and terrible God, and fight for your brethren, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your houses.	και έστησα εις τα κατώτατα του τόπου κατόπισθεν του τείχους εν τοις σκεπεινοίς και έστησα τον λαόν κατά δήμους μετά ρομφαιών αυτών και των δοράτων αυτών και τόξων αυτών
14And it came to pass, when our enemies heard that it was made known to us, and God had frustrated their counsel, that we all returned to the wall, every man to his work.	και είδον και ανέστην και είπον προς τους εντίμους και προς τους στρατηγούς και προς τους καταλοίπους του λαού μη φοβηθήτε από προσώπου αυτών μνήσθητε του θεού ημών του μεγάλου και φοβερού και παρατάξασθε περί των αδελφών υμών υιών υμών και θυγατέρων υμών και γυναικών υμών και οικϊων υμών
15And it came to pass from that day that half of them that had been driven forth, wrought the work, and half of them kept guard; and there were spears, and shields, and bows, and breast-plates, and rulers behind the whole house of Juda,	και εγένετο ηνίκα ήκουσαν οι εχθροί ημών ότι εγνώσθη ημίν και διεσκέδασεν ο θεός την βουλήν αυτών και επεστρέψαμεν πάντες ημείς εις το τείχος ανήρ εις το έργον αυτού
16even of them that were building the wall:—and those who carried the burdens were under arms: each with one hand wrought his work, and with the other held his dart.	και εγένετο από της ημέρας εκείνης ήμισυ των εκτεταγμένων εποίουν το έργον και ήμισυ αυτών αντείχοντο και λόγχαι και θυρεοί και τόξα και θώρακες και οι άρχοντες οπίσω παντός οίκου Ιούδα
17And the builders wrought each man having his sword girt upon his loins, and so they built: and the trumpeter with his trumpet next to him.	των οικοδομούντων εν τω τείχει και οι αίροντες εν τοις αρτήρσιν ένοπλοι εν μία χειρί εποίει αυτού το έργον και εν μία εκράτει την βολίδα
18And I said to the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, The work is great and abundant, and we are dispersed upon the wall, each at a great distance from his brother.	και οι οικοδόμοι ανήρ ρομφαίαν αυτού εζωσμένος επί την οσφύν αυτού και ωκοδόμουσαν και ο σαλπίζων εν τη κερατίνη εχόμενά μου
19In whatsoever place ye shall hear the sound of the cornet, thither gather yourselves together to us; and our God shall fight for us.	και είπα προς τους εντίμους και προς τους άρχοντας και προς τους καταλοίπους του λαού το έργον πλατύ και πολύ και ημείς σκορπιζόμεθα επί του τείχους μακράν ανήρ από του αδελφού αυτού
20So we continued labouring at the work: and half of them held the spears from the rising of the morning until the stars appeared.	εν τόπω ου αν ακούσητε την φωνήν της κερατίνης εκεί συναχθήσεσθε προς ημάς και ο θεός ημών πολεμήσει περί ημών
21And at that time I said to the people, Lodge ye every man with his servant in the midst of Jerusalem, and let the night be a watch-time to you, and the day a work-time.	και ημείς εποιούμεν το έργον και το ήμισυ ημών κρατούντες τας λόγχας από αναβάσεως του όρθρου έως εξόδου των άστρων
22And I was there, and the watchmen behind me, and there was not a man of us that put off his garments.	και εν τω καιρώ εκείνω είπα τω λαώ έκαστος μετά του νεανίσκου αυτού αυλισθήσεται εν μέσω Ιερουσαλήμ και έστω ημίν η νυξ προφυλακή και η ημέρα έργον
23	και ήμην εγώ και οι αδελφοί και τα παιδάρια και οι άνδρες της προφυλακής οπίσω μου και ουκ ην εξ ημών εκδιδυσκόμενος ανήρ τα ιμάτια εαυτού ανήρ και όπλον αυτού εις το ύδωρ

Chapter 5

1And the cry of the people and their wives was great against their brethren the Jews.	και εγένετο η κραυγή του λαού και γυναικών αυτών μεγάλη προς τους αδελφούς αυτών τους Ιουδαίους
2And some said, We are numerous with our sons and our daughters; so we will take corn, and eat, and live.	και ήσάν τινες λέγοντες εν υιοίς ημών και εν θυγατράσιν ημών ημείς πολλοί και ληψόμεθα σίτον και φαγόμεθα και ζησόμεθα
3And some said, As to our fields and vineyards and houses, let us pledge them, and we will take corn, and eat.	και εισί τινες λέγοντες αγροί ημών και αμπελώνες ημών και οικίαι ημών ημείς διεγγυώμεν και ληψόμεθα σίτον και φαγόμεθα
4And some said, We have borrowed money for the king's tributes:—our fields, and our vineyards, and houses are pledged.	και εισί τινες λέγοντες εδανεισάμεθα αργύριον εις φόρους του βασιλέως αγροί ημών και αμπελώνες ημών και οικίαι ημών
5And now our flesh is as the flesh of our brethren, our children are as their children: yet, behold, we are reducing our sons and our daughters to slavery, and some of our daughters are enslaved: and there is no power of our hands, for our fields and our vineyards belong to the nobles.	και νυν ως σαρξ αδελφών ημών σαρξ ημών ως υιοί αυτών υιοί ημών και ιδού ημείς καταδυναστεύομεν τους υιούς ημών και τας θυγατέρας ημών εις δούλους και εισίν από θυγατέρων ημών καταδυναστευόμεναι και ουκ έστι δύναμις χειρών ημών και αγροί ημών και αμπελώνες ημών τοις εντίμοις
6And I was much grieved as I heard their cry and these words.	και ελυπήθην σφόδρα καθώς ήκουσα την κραυγήν αυτών και τους λόγους τούτους
7And my heart took counsel within me, and I contended against the nobles, and the princes, and I said to them, Should every man demand of his brother what ye demand? And I appointed against them a great assembly,	και εβουλεύσατο καρδία μου επ΄ εμέ και εμαχεσάμην προς τους εντίμους και τους άρχοντας και είπον αυτοίς απαιτήσει ανήρ τον αδελφόν αυτού α υμείς ποιείτε και έδωκα επ΄ αυτούς εκκλησίαν μεγάλην
8and I said to them, We of our free-will have redeemed our brethren the Jews that were sold to the Gentiles; and do ye sell your brethren? and shall they be delivered to us? And they were silent, and found no answer.	και είπον αυτοίς ημείς κεκτήμεθα τους αδελφούς ημών τους Ιουδαίους τους πωλουμένους τοις έθνεσιν εν εκουσίω ημών και υμείς πωλείτε τους αδελφούς υμών και πραθήσονται ημίν και ησύχασαν και ουχ εύρον λόγον
9And I said, The thing which ye do is not good; ye will not so walk in the fear of our God because of the reproach of the Gentiles our enemies.	και είπα ουκ αγαθός ο λόγος ον υμείς ποιείτε ουχ ούτως εν φόβω θεού ημών απελεύσεσθε από ονειδισμού των εθνών των εχθρών ημών
10Both my brethren, and my acquaintances, and I, have lent them money and corn: let us now leave off this exaction.	και γε εγώ και οι αδελφοί μου και οι γνωστοί μου εθήκαμεν αυτοις αργύριον και σίτον εγκατελίπομεν δη την απαίτησιν ταύτην
11Restore to them, I pray, as at this day, their fields, and their vineyards, and their olive-yards, and their houses, and bring forth to them corn and wine and oil of the money.	επιστρέψατε δη αυτοίς ως σήμερον αγρούς αυτών και αμπελώνας αυτών και ελαιώνας αυτών και οικίας αυτών και από του αργυρίου τον σίτον και τον οίνον και το έλαιον εξενέγκατε αυτοίς
12And they said, We will restore, and we will not exact of them; we will do thus as thou sayest. Then I called the priests, and bound them by oath to do according to this word.	και είπον αποδώσομεν και παρ΄ αυτών ου ζητήσομεν ούτως ποιήσομεν καθώς συ λέγεις και εκάλεσα τους ιερείς και ώρκισα αυτούς ποιήσαι ως το ρήμα τούτο
13And I shook out my garment, and said, So may God shake out every man who shall not keep to this word, from his house, and from his labours, he shall be even thus shaken out, as an outcast and empty. And all the congregation said, Amen, and they praised the Lord: and the people did this thing.	και την αναβολήν μου εξετίναξα και είπον ούτως εκτινάξαι ο θεός πάντα άνδρα ος ου στήσει τον λόγον τούτον εκ του οίκου αυτού και εκ κόπου αυτού και έσται ούτως εκτετιναγμένος και κενός και είπε πάσα η εκκλησία αμήν και ήνεσαν τον κύριον και εποίησεν ο λαός το ρήμα τούτο
14From the day that he charged me to be their ruler in the land of Juda, from the twentieth year even to the thirty-second year of Arthasastha, twelve years, I and my brethren ate not provision extorted from them.	και γε από της ημέρας ης ενετείλατό μοι είναι εις άρχοντα αυτών εν γη Ιούδα από έτους εικοστού και έως έτους τριακοστού και δευτέρου τω Αρθασασθά τω βασιλεί έτη δώδεκα και εγώ και οι αδελφοί μου άρτον της ηγεμονίας μου ουκ εφάγομεν
15But as for the former acts of extortion wherein those who were before me oppressed them, they even took of them their last money, forty didrachms for bread and wine; and the very outcasts of them exercised authority over the people: but I did not so, because of the fear of God.	οι δε άρχοντες οι έμπροσθέν μου εβάρυναν επί τον λαόν και έλαβον παρ΄ αυτών εν άρτοις και εν οίνω έσχατον αργύριον σίκλους τεσσαράκοντα και γε τα παιδάρια αυτών εκυρίευσαν επί τον λαόν καγώ ουκ εποίησα ούτως από προσώπου φόβου κυρίου
16Also in the work of the wall I treated them not with rigor, I bought not land: and all that were gathered together came thither to the work.	και εν έργω του τείχους τούτων εκράτησα αγρόν ουκ εκτησάμην και τα παιδάριά μου και πάντες οι συνηγμένοι εκεί διά το έργον
17And the Jews, to the number of a hundred and fifty men, besides those coming to us from the nations round about, were at my table.	και οι Ιουδαίοι και οι άρχοντες εκατόν πεντήκοντα άνδρες και ερχόμενοι προς ημάς από των εθνών των κύκλω ημών επί τράπεζάν μου
18And there came to me for one day one calf, and I had six choice sheep and a goat; and every ten days wine in abundance of all sorts: yet with these I required not the bread of extortion, because the bondage was heavy upon this people.	και ην γινόμενον εις ημέραν μίαν μόσχος εις και πρόβατα εξ εκλεκτά και χίμαρος εγίνοντό μοι και αναμέσον δέκα ημερών εν πάσιν οίνος τω πλήθει και συν τούτοις άρτον της ηγεμονίας μου ουκ εζήτησα ότι βαρεία η δουλεία επί τον λαόν τούτον
19Remember me, O God, for good, in all that I have done to this people.	μνήσθητί μου ο θεός εις αγαθόν πάντα όσα εποίησα τω λαώ τούτω

Chapter 6

1Now it came to pass, when Sanaballat, and Tobias, and Gesam the Arabian, and the rest of our enemies, heard that I had built the wall, and that there was no opening left therein; (but hitherto I had not set up the doors on the gates;)	και εγένετο καθώς ηκούσθη τω Σαναβαλάτ και τω Τωβία και τω Γησάμ τω Αραβί και τοις καταλοίποις των εχθρών ημών ότι ωκοδόμησα το τείχος και ου κατελείφθη εν αυτώ διακοπή και γε έως του καιρού εκείνου θύρας ουκ επέστησα εν ταις πύλαις
2that Sanaballat and Gesam sent to me, saying, Come and let us meet together in the villages in the plain of Ono. But they were plotting to do me mischief.	και απέστειλε Σαναβαλάτ και Γησάμ προς με λέγοντες δεύρο και συναχθώμεν επι το αυτό εν ταις κώμαις εν πεδίω Ωνώ και αυτοί λογιζόμενοί μοι ποιήσαι πονηρίαν
3So I sent messengers to them, saying, I am doing a great work, and I shall not be able to come down, lest the work should cease: as soon as I shall have finished it, I will come down to you.	και απέστειλα επ΄ αυτούς αγγέλους λέγων έργον μέγα εγώ ποιώ και ου δυνήσομαι καταβήναι μή καταπαύση το έργον ως αν τελειώσω αυτό καταβήσομαι προς υμάς
4And they sent to me again to this effect; and I sent them word accordingly.	και απέστειλαν προς με ως το ρήμα τούτο τέσσαρσι καθόδοις και απέστειλα αυτοίς κατά τον λόγον τούτον
5Then Sanaballat sent his servant to me with an open letter in his hand.	και απέστειλε προς με Σαναβαλάτ κατά τον λόγον τούτον τον πέμπτον παίδα αυτού και επιστολήν ανεωγμένην εν χειρί αυτού
6And in it was written, It has been reported among the Gentiles that thou and the Jews are planning to revolt: therefore thou art building the wall, and thou wilt be a king to them.	και ην γεγραμμένον εν αυτή εν έθνεσιν ηκούσθη και Γησάμ είπεν ότι συ και οι Ιουδαίοι λογίζεσθε αποστατήσαι διά τούτο συ οικοδομείς το τείχος και συ γίνη αυτοίς εις βασιλέα
7And moreover thou has appointed prophets to thyself, that thou mightest dwell in Jerusalem as a king over Juda: and now these words will be reported to the king. Now then, come, let us take counsel together.	και προς τούτοις προφήτας έστησας σεαυτώ κηρύσσειν περί σου εν Ιερουσαλήμ λέγοντας ότι εβασίλευσας εν Ιουδαία και νυν απαγγελήσονται τω βασιλεί οι λόγοι ούτοι και νυν δεύρο βουλευσώμεθα επί το αυτό
8And I sent to him, saying, It has not happened according to these words, even as thou sayest, for thou framest them falsely out of thy heart.	και απέστειλα προς αυτόν λέγων ουκ εγενήθη ως οι λόγοι ούτοι ους συ λέγεις ότι από καρδίας συ ψεύδη αυτούς
9For all were trying to alarm us, saying, Their hands shall be weakened from this work, and it shall not be done. Now therefore I have strengthened my hands.	ότι πάντες φοβερίζουσιν ημάς λέγοντες εκλυθήσονται αι χείρες αυτών από του έργου τούτου και ου ποιηθήσεται και νυν εκραταίωσα τας χείράς μου
10And I came into the house of Semei the son of Dalaia the Son of Metabeel, and he was shut up; and he said, Let us assemble together in the house of God, in the midst of it, and let us shut the doors of it; for they are coming by night to slay thee.	καγώ εισήλθον εις οίκον Σεμεϊ υιόυ Δελαϊα υιόυ Μεταβεήλ και αυτός συνεχόμενος και είπε συναχθώμεν εις οίκον του θεού εν μέσω αυτού και κλείσωμεν τας θύρας αυτού ότι έρχονται νυκτός φονεύσαί σε
11And I said, Who is the man that shall enter into the house, that he may live?	και είπα τις εστίν ο ανήρ οίος εγώ φεύξεται η τις οίος εγώ εισελεύσεται εις τον οίκον και ζήσεται
12And I observed, and, behold, God had not sent him, for the prophecy was a fable devised against me:	ουκ εισελεύσομαι και επέγνων και ιδού ο θεός ουκ απέστειλεν αυτόν ότι η προφητεία λόγος κατ΄ εμού και Τωβίας και Σαναβαλάτ εμισθώσαντο αυτόν
13and Tobias and Sanaballat had hired against me a multitude, that I might be frightened, and do this, and sin, and become to them an ill name, that they might reproach me.	όπως φοβηθώ και ποιήσω ούτως και αμάρτω και γένωμαι αυτοίς εις όνομα πονηρόν όπως ονειδίσωσί με
14Remember, O God, Tobias and Sanaballat, according to these their deeds, and the prophetess Noadia, and the rest of the prophets who tried to alarm me.	μνήσθητι ο θεός μου τω Τωβία και τω Σαναβαλάτ ως τα ποιήματα αυτών ταύτα και τω Νωαδία τω προφήτη και τοις καταλοίποις των προφητών οι ήσαν φοβερίζοντές με
15So the wall was finished on the twenty-fifth day of the month Elul, in fifty-two days.	και ετελέσθη το τείχος πέμπτη και εικάδι του Ελούλ μηνός εις πεντήκοντα δύο ημέρας
16And it came to pass, when all our enemies heard of it, that all the nations round about us feared, and great alarm fell upon them, and they knew that it was of our God that this work should be finished.	και εγένετο ηνίκα ήκουσαν πάντες οι εχθροί ημών και εφοβήθησαν πάντα τα έθνη τα κύκλω ημών και επέπεσε φόβος μέγας σφόδρα εν οφθαλμοίς αυτών και έγνωσαν ότι παρά του θεού ημών εγενήθη τελειωθήναι το έργον τούτο
17And in those days letters came to Tobias from many nobles of Juda, and those of Tobias came to them.	και εν ταις ημέραις εκείναις από πολλών εντίμων Ιούδα επιστολαί επορεύοντο προς Τωβίαν και αι Τωβία ήρχοντο προς αυτούς
18For many in Juda were bound to him by oath, because he was son-in-law of Sechenias the son of Herae; and Jonan his son had taken the daughter of Mesulam the son of Barachia to wife.	ότι πολλοί εν Ιούδα ένορκοι ήσαν αυτώ ότι γαμβρός ην του Σεχενία υιόυ Ηραϊ και Ιωνάν υιός αυτού έλαβε την θυγατέρα Μεσουλάμ υιόυ Βαραχίου εις γυναίκα
19And they reported his words to me, and carried out my words to him: and Tobias sent letters to terrify me.	και γε τα συμφέροντα αυτώ έλεγεν ενώπιόν μου και λόγους μου ήσαν εκφέροντες αυτώ και επιστολάς απέστειλε Τωβία φοβερίσαι με

Chapter 7

1And it came to pass, when the wall was built, and I had set up the doors, and the porters and the singers and the Levites were appointed,	και εγένετο ηνίκα ωκοδομήθη το τείχος και έστησα τας θύρας και επεσκέπησαν οι πυλωροί και οι άδοντες και οι Λευίται
2that I gave charge to Ananias my brother, and Ananias the ruler of the palace, over Jerusalem: for he was a true man, and one that feared God beyond many.	και ενετειλάμην τω Ανανία τω αδελφώ μου και τω Ανανία άρχοντι της βιρά εν Ιερουσαλήμ ότι αυτός ην ως ανήρ αληθής και φοβούμενος τον θεόν υπέρ πολλούς
3And I said to them, The gates of Jerusalem shall not be opened till sunrise; and while they are still watching, let the doors be shut, and bolted; and set watches of them that dwell in Jerusalem, every man at his post, and every man over against his house.	και είπον αυτοίς ουκ ανοιγήσονται πύλαι Ιερουσαλήμ έως άμα τω ηλίω και έτι αυτών γρηγορούντων κλειέσθωσαν αι θύραι και ασφαλιζέσθωσαν και στήσον προφύλακας οικούντων εν Ιερουσαλήμ ανήρ εν προφυλακή εαυτού και ανήρ απέναντι οικίας εαυτού
4Now the city was wide and large; and the people were few in it, and the houses were not built.	και η πόλις πλατεία και μεγάλη και ο λαός ολίγος εν αυτή και ουκ ήσαν οικίαι ωκοδομημέναι
5And God put it into my heart, and I gathered the nobles, and the rulers, and the people, into companies: and I found a register of the company that came up first, and I found written in it as follows:	και έδωκεν ο θεός εις την καρδίαν μου και συνήξα τους εντίμους και τους άρχοντας και τον λαόν εις συνοδίας και εύρον βιβλίον της συνοδίας οι ανέβησαν εν πρώτοις και εύρον γεγραμμένον εν αυτώ
6Now these are the children of the country, that came up from captivity, of the number which Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon carried away, and they returned to Jerusalem and to Juda, every man to his city;	ούτοι οι υιοί της χώρας οι αναβάντες από της αιχμαλωσίας της αποικίας ης απώκισε Ναβουχοδονόσορ ο βασιλεύς Βαβυλώνος και επέστρεψαν εις Ιερουσαλήμ και εις Ιούδαν ανήρ εις πόλιν εαυτού

63And of the priests; the children of Ebia, the children of Acos, the children of Berzelli, for they took wives of the daughters of Berzelli the Galaadite, and they were called by their name.	και από των ιερέων υιοί Εβιά υιοί Ακκώς υιοί Βερζελεϊ ος έλαβεν από θυγατέρων Βερζελεϊ του Γαλααδίτου γυναίκα και εκλήθη επ΄ ονόματι αυτών
64These sought the pedigree of their company, and it was not found, and they were removed as polluted from the priesthood.	ούτοι εζήτησαν γραφήν εαυτών της συνοδίας και ουχ ευρέθη και απώσθησαν από της ιερατείας
65And the Athersastha said, that they should not eat of the most holy things, until a priest should stand up to give light.	και είπεν Αρθασασθά αυτοίς ίνα μη φάγωσιν από του αγίου των αγίων έως αναστή ιερεύς τοις φωτισμοίς και ταις τελειώσεσι
66And all the congregation was about forty-two thousand three hundred and sixty,	και εγένετο πάσα η εκκλησία ομοθυμαδόν ως τέσσαρες μυριάδες και δισχίλιοι τριακόσιοι εξήκοντα
67besides their men-servants and their maid-servants: these were seven thousand three hundred and thirty seven: and the singing-men and singing-women, two hundred and forty-five.	πάρεξ δούλων αυτών και παιδισκών αυτών ούτοι επτακισχίλιοι τριακόσιοι τριακονταεπτά και άδοντες και άδουσαι διακόσιοι τεσσαρακονταπέντε
68Two thousand seven hundred asses.	ίπποι επτακόσιοι τριακονταέξ ημίονοι διακόσιοι τεσσαρακονταπέντε κάμηλοι τετρακόσιοι τριακονταπέντε
69And part of the heads of families gave into the treasury to Neemias for the work a thousand pieces of gold, fifty bowls, and thirty priests' garments.	όνοι εξακισχίλιοι επτακόσιοι είκοσι
70And some of the heads of families gave into the treasuries of the work, twenty thousand pieces of gold, and two thousand three hundred pounds of silver.	και από μέρους αρχηγών των πατριών έδωκαν εις τον έργον τω Αρθασασθά εις θησαυρόν χρυσίου δραχμάς χιλίας φιάλας πεντήκοντα στολάς των ιερέων πεντηκοσίας τριάκοντα
71And the rest of the people gave twenty thousand pieces of gold, and two thousand two hundred pounds of silver, and sixty-seven priests' garments.	και από αρχηγών των πατριών έδωκαν εις θησαυρούς του έργου χρυσού νόμισμα μυριάδας δύο και αργυρίου μνας δισχιλίας διακοσίας
72And the priests, and Levites, and porters, and singers, and some of the people, and the Nathinim, and all Israel, dwelt in their cities.	και έδωκαν οι κατάλοιποι του λαού χρυσίου δραχμάς δύο μυριάδας και αργυρίου μνας δισχιλίας και στολάς των ιερέων εξηκονταεπτά
73	και εκάθισαν οι ιερείς και οι Λευίται και οι πυλωροί και οι άδοντες και οι από του λαού και οι Ναθηνείμ και πας Ισραήλ εν πόλεσιν αυτών

Chapter 8

1And the seventh month arrived, and the children of Israel were settled in their cities; and all the people were gathered as one man to the broad place before the water-gate, and they told Esdras the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses, which the Lord commanded Israel.	και έφθασεν ο μην ο έβδομος και οι υιοί Ισραήλ εν πόλεσιν αυτών και συνήχθησαν πας ο λαός ως ανήρ εις εις το πλάτος το έμπροσθεν πύλης του ύδατος και είπον τω Έσδρα τω γραμματεί ενέγκαι το βιβλίον νόμου Μωυσή ον ενετείλατο κύριος τω Ισραήλ
2So Esdras the priest brought the law before the congregation both of men and women, and every one who had understanding was present to hearken, on the first day of the seventh month.	και ήνεγκεν Έσδρας ο ιερεύς τον νόμον ενώπιον της εκκλησίας από ανδρός έως γυναικός και πας ο συνιών ακούειν εν ημέρα μία του μηνός του εβδόμου
3And he read in it from the time of sun-rise to the middle of the day, before the men and the women; and they understood it, and the ears of all the people were attentive to the book of the law.	και ανέγνω εν αυτώ απέναντι της πλατείας της έμπροσθεν της πύλης των υδάτων από της ώρας του διαφωτίσαι τον ήλιον έως μεσούσης της ημέρας απέναντι ανδρών και γυναικών και αυτοί συνιέντες και ώτα παντός του λαού εις το βιβλίον του νόμου
4And Esdras the scribe stood on a wooden stage, and there stood next to him Mattathias, and Samaeas, and Ananias, and Urias, and Chelcia, and Massia, on his right hand; and on his left Phadaeas, and Misael, and Melchias, and Asom, and Asabadma, and Zacharias, and Mesollam.	και έστη Έσδρας ο γραμματεύς επί βήματος ξυλίνου ο εποίησεν εις το δημηγορήσαι και έστησαν εχόμενα αυτού Ματθαθίας και Σαμεϊας και Ανανίας και Ουρίας και Χελκίας και Μαασίας εκ δεξιών αυτού και εξ ευωνύμων Φαδαϊας και Μισαήλ και Μελχίας και Ασώμ και Ασαβδανά και Ζαχαρίας και Μεσολλάμ
5And Esdras opened the book before all the people, for he was above the people; and it came to pass when he had opened it, that all the people stood.	και ήνοιξεν Έσδρας το βιβλίον ενώπιον παντός του λαού ότι αυτός ην επάνω του λαού και εγένετο ηνίκα ήνοιξεν αυτό έστη πας ο λαός
6And Esdras blessed the Lord, the great God: and all the people answered, and said, Amen, lifting up their hands: and they bowed down and worshipped the Lord with their face to the ground.	και ευλόγησεν Έσδρας κύριον τον θεόν τον μέγαν και απεκρίθη πας ο λαός και είπον αμήν αμήν επάραντες τας χείρας αυτών και έκυψαν και προσεκύνησαν τω κυρίω επί πρόσωπον επί την γην
7And Jesus and Banaias and Sarabias instructed the people in the law, and the people stood in their place.	και Ιησούς και Βανέας και Σαραβίας και Ιαμείν και Ακούβ και Σαβαθθαίος και Ωδουίας και Μαασίας και Καλλίτας και Ασαρίας και Ιωσαβέδ και Αναν και Φαλαϊας και οι Λευίται ήσαν συνετίζοντες τον λαόν εις τον νόμον και ο λαός εν τη στάσει αυτού
8And they read in the book of the law of God, and Esdras taught, and instructed them distinctly in the knowledge of the Lord, and the people understood the law in the reading.	και ανέγνωσαν εν τω βιβλίω του νόμου του θεού και εδίδασκεν Έσδρας και διέστειλεν εν επιστήμη κυρίου και συνήκεν ο λαός εν τη αναγνώσει
9And Neemias, and Esdras the priest and scribe, and the Levites, and they that instructed the people, spoke and said to all the people, It is a holy day to the Lord our God; do not mourn, nor weep. For all the people wept when they heard the words of the law.	και είπε Νεεμίας ος εστιν Αταρσαθά και Έσδρας ο ιερεύς και γραμματεύς και οι Λευίται οι συνετίζοντες τον λαόν και είπον παντί τω λαώ ημέρα αγία εστί τω κυρίω θεώ ημών μη πενθείτε μηδέ κλαίετε ότι έκλαιε πας ο λαός ως ήκουσε τους λόγους του νόμου
10And the governor said to them, Go, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions to them that have nothing; for the day is holy to our Lord: and faint not, for the Lord is our strength.	και είπεν αυτοίς πορεύεσθε και φάγετε λιπάσματα και πίετε γλυκάσματα και αποστείλατε μερίδας τοις μη έχουσιν ότι αγία εστίν η ημέρα τω κυρίω θεώ ημών και μη διαπέσητε ότι η χαρά κυρίου αύτη εστίν ισχύς ημών
11And the Levites caused all the people to be silent, saying, Be silent, for it is a holy day, and despond not.	και οι Λευίται κατεσιώπων πάντα τον λαόν λέγοντες σιωπάτε ότι ημέρα αγία και μη καταπίπτετε
12So all the people departed to eat, and to drink, and to send portions, and to make great mirth, for they understood the words which he made known to them.	και απήλθε πας ο λαός φαγείν και πιείν και αποστέλλειν μερίδας και ποιήσαι ευφροσύνην μεγάλην ότι συνήκαν εν τοις λόγοις οις εγνώρισεν αυτοίς
13And on the second day the heads of families assembled with all the people, also the priests and Levites, to Esdras the scribe, to attend to all the words of the law.	και εν τη ημέρα τη δευτέρα συνήχθησαν οι άρχοντες των πατριών τω παντί λαώ οι ιερείς και οι Λευίται προς Έσδραν τον γραμματέα επιστήσαι προς πάντας τους λόγους του νόμου
14And they found written in the law which the Lord commanded Moses, that the children of Israel should dwell in booths, in the feast in the seventh month:	και εύρον γεγραμμένον εν τω νόμω ω ενετείλατο κύριος τω Μωυσή όπως κατοικήσωσιν οι υιοί Ισραήλ εν σκηναίς εν εορτή εν μηνί τω εβδόμω
15and that they should sound with trumpets in all their cities, and in Jerusalem. And Esdras said, Go forth to the mountain, and bring branches of olive, and branches of cypress trees, and branches of myrtle, and branches of palm trees, and branches of every thick tree, to make booths, according to that which was written.	και όπως σημάνωσιν εν σάλπιγξιν εν πάσαις ταις πόλεσιν αυτών και εν Ιερουσαλήμ και είπεν Έσδρας εξέλθετε εις το όρος και ενέγκατε φύλλα ελαίας και φύλλα ξύλων κυπαρισσίνων και φύλλα μυρσίνης και φύλλα φοινίκων και φύλλα ξύλου δασέος ποιήσαι σκηνάς κατά το γεγραμμένον
16And the people went forth, and brought them, and made booths for themselves, each one upon his roof, and in their courts, and in the courts of the house of God, and in the streets of the city, and as far as the gate of Ephraim.	και εξήλθεν ο λαός και ήνεγκαν και εποίησαν εαυτοίς σκηνάς ανήρ επί του δώματος αυτού και εν ταις αυλαίς αυτών και εν ταις αυλαίς οίκου του θεού και εν πλατείαις της πύλης των υδάτων και εν ταις πλατείαις της πύλης Εφραϊμ
17And all the congregation who had returned from the captivity, made booths, and dwelt in booths: for the children of Israel had not done so from the days of Jesus the son of Naue until that day: and there was great joy.	και εποίησαν πάσα η εκκλησία οι επιστρέψαντες από της αιχμαλωσίας σκηνάς και εκάθισαν εν σκηναίς ότι ουκ εποίησαν από ημερών Ιησού υιόυ Ναυή ούτως οι υιοί Ισραήλ έως της ημέρας εκείνης και εγένετο ευφροσύνη μεγάλη σφόδρα
18And Esdras read in the book of the law of God daily, from the first day even to the last day: and they kept the feast seven days; and on the eighth day a solemn assembly, according to the ordinance.	και ανέγνω εν βιβλίω νόμου του θεού ημέραν εν ημέρα από της ημέρας της πρώτης έως της ημέρας της εσχάτης και εποίησαν εορτήν επτά ημέρας και τη ημέρα τη ογδόη εξόδιον κατά το κρίμα

Chapter 9

1Now on the twenty-fourth day of this month the children of Israel assembled with fasting, and in sackcloths, and with ashes on their head.	και εν ημέρα εικοστή και τετάρτη του μηνός τούτου συνήχθησαν οι υιοί Ισραήλ εν νηστεία και εν σάκκοις και σποδώ επί κεφαλής αυτών
2And the children of Israel separated themselves from every stranger, and stood and confessed their sins, and the iniquities of their fathers.	και εχωρίσθησαν οι υιοί Ισραήλ από παντός υιόυ αλλοτρίου και έστησαν και εξηγόρευσαν τας αμαρτίας αυτών και τας ανομίας των πατέρων αυτών
3And they stood in their place, and read in the book of the law of the Lord their god: and they confessed their sins to the Lord, and worshipped the Lord their God.	και έστησαν επί τη στάσει αυτών και ανέγνωσαν εν βιβλίω νόμου κυρίου θεού αυτών το τέταρτον της ημέρας και ήσαν εξαγορεύοντες τω κυρίω το τέταρτον της ημέρας και προσκυνούντες τω κυρίω θεώ αυτών
4And there stood upon the stairs, of the Levites, Jesus, and the sons of Cadmiel, Sechenia the son of Sarabia, sons of Choneni; and they cried with a loud voice to the Lord their God.	και έστη επί αναβάσει των Λευιτών Ιησούς και οι υιοί Καδμιήλ Σαχανίας υιός Σαραβία υιόυ Χανανί και εβόησαν φωνή μεγάλη προς κύριον τον θεόν αυτών
5And the Levites, Jesus and Cadmiel, said, Rise up, bless the Lord our God forever and ever: and let them bless thy glorious name, and exalt it with all blessing and praise.	και είπον οι Λευίται Ιησούς και Καδμιήλ Βοννείας Σαραβίας Ωδουίας Σοβανίας Φεσσίας ανάστητε ευλογείτε τον κύριον θεόν ημών από του αιώνος και έως του αιώνος και ευλογήσουσιν όνομα δόξης σου και υψώσουσιν επί πάση ευλογία και αινέσει
6And Esdras said, Thou art the only true Lord; thou madest the heaven, and the heaven of heavens, and all their array, the earth, and all things that are in it, the seas, and all things in them; and thou quickenest all things, and the hosts of heaven worship thee.	και είπεν Έσδρας συ ει αυτός κύριος μόνος συ εποίησας τον ουρανόν και τον ουρανόν του ουρανού και πάντας τας δυνάμεις αυτών την γην και πάντα όσα εστίν εν αυτή τας θαλάσσας και πάντα τα εν αυταίς και συ ζωοποιείς τα πάντα και σοι προσκυνούσιν αι στρατιαί των ουρανών
7Thou art the Lord God, thou didst choose Abram, and broughtest him out of the land of the Chaldeans, and gavest him the name of Abraam:	συ ει κύριε ο θεός συ εξελέξω Άβραμ και εξήγαγες αυτόν εκ της χώρας των Χαλδαίων και επέθηκας αυτώ όνομα Αβραάμ
8and thou foundest his heart faithful before thee, and didst make a covenant with him to give to him and to his seed the land of the Chananites, and the Chettites, and Amorites, and Pherezites, and Jebusites, and Gergesites; and thou hast confirmed thy words, for thou art righteous.	και εύρες την καρδίαν αυτού πιστήν ενώπιόν σου και διέθου προς αυτόν διαθήκην δούναι αυτώ την γην των Χαναναίων και Χετταίων και Αμορραίων και Φερεζαίων και Ιεβουσαίων και Γεργεσαίων και δούναι αυτήν τω σπέρματι αυτού και έστησας τους λόγους σου ότι δίκαιος συ
9And thou sawest the affliction of our fathers in Egypt, and thou heardest their cry at the Red Sea.	και είδες την ταπείνωσιν των πατέρων ημών εν Αιγύπτω και την κραυγήν αυτών ήκουσας επί θάλασσαν ερυθράν
10And thou shewedst signs and wonders in Egypt, on Pharao and all his servants, and on all the people of his land: for thou knowest that they behaved insolently against them: and thou madest thyself a name, as at this day.	και έδωκας σημεία και τέρατα εν Αιγύπτω εν Φαραώ και εν πάσι τοις παισίν αυτού και εν παντί τω λαώ της γης αυτού ότι έγνως ότι υπερηφάνησαν επ΄ αυτούς και εποίησας σεαυτώ όνομα ως η ημέρα αύτη
11And thou didst cleave the sea before them, and they passed through the midst of the sea on dry land; and thou didst cast into the deep them that were about to pursue them, as a stone in the mighty water.	και την θάλασσαν διέρρηξας ενώπιον αυτών και παρήλθον εν μέσω της θαλάσσης εν ξηρασία και τους καταδιώκοντας αυτούς έρριψας εις βυθόν ωσεί λίθον εν ύδατι σφοδρώ
12And thou guidedst them by day by a pillar of cloud, and by night by a pillar of fire, to enlighten for them the way wherein they should walk.	και εν στύλω νεφέλης ωδήγησας αυτούς ημέρας και εν στύλω πυρός την νύκτα του φωτίσαι αυτοίς την οδόν εν η πορεύσονται εν αυτή
13Also thou camest down upon mount Sina, and thou spakest to them out of heaven, and gavest them right judgments, and laws of truth, ordinances, and good commandments.	και επί όρος Σινά κατέβης και ελάλησας προς αυτούς εξ ουρανού και έδωκας αυτοίς κρίματα ευθέα και νόμους αληθείας προστάγματα και εντολάς αγαθάς
14And thou didst make known to them thy holy sabbath; thou didst enjoin upon them commandments, and ordinances, and a law, by the hand of thy servant Moses.	και το σάββατόν σου το άγιον εγνώρισας αυτοίς εντολάς και προστάγματα και νόμον ενετείλω αυτοίς εν χειρί Μωυσή του δούλου σου
15And thou gavest them bread from heaven for their food, and thou broughtest them forth water from a rock for their thirst; and thou badest them go in to inherit the land over which thou stretchedst out thy hand to give it them.	και άρτον εξ ουρανού έδωκας αυτοίς εις σιτοδοσίαν αυτών και ύδωρ εκ πέτρας εξήνεγκας αυτοίς εις δίψαν αυτών και είπας αυτοίς εισελθείν κληρονομήσαι την γην εις ην εξέτεινας την χείρά σου δούναι αυτοίς
16But they and our fathers behaved proudly, and hardened their neck, and did not hearken to thy commandments,	και αυτοί και οι πατέρες ημών υπερηφανεύσαντο και εσκλήρυναν τον τράχηλον αυτών και ουκ ήκουσαν των εντολών σου
17and refused to listen, and remembered not thy wonders which thou wroughtest with them; and they hardened their neck, and appointed a leader to return to their slavery in Egypt: but thou, O God, art merciful and compassionate, long-suffering, and abundant in mercy, and thou didst not forsake them.	και ανένευσαν του εισακούσαι και ουκ εμνήσθησαν των θαυμασίων σου ων εποίησας εν αυτοίς και εσκλήρυναν τον τράχηλον αυτών και έδωκαν αρχήν επιστρέψαι εις δουλείαν αυτών εν Αιγύπτω και συ ο θεός αφίων αμαρτίας ελεήμων και οικτίρμων μακρόθυμος και πολυέλεος και ουκ εγκατέλιπες αυτούς
18And still farther they even made to themselves a molten calf, and said, These are the gods that brought us up out of Egypt: and they wrought great provocations.	έτι δε και εποίησαν εαυτοίς μόσχον χωνευτόν και είπαν ούτοι οι θεοί οι εξαγαγόντες ημάς εξ Αιγύπτου και εποίησαν παροργισμούς μεγάλους
19Yet thou in thy great compassions didst not forsake them in the wilderness: thou didst not turn away from them the pillar of the cloud by day, to guide them in the way, nor the pillar of fire by night, to enlighten for them the way wherein they should walk.	και συ εν οικτιρμοίς σου τοις μεγάλοις ουκ εγκατέλιπες αυτούς εν τη ερήμω τον στύλον της νεφέλης ουκ εξέκλινας απ΄ αυτών ημέρας οδηγήσαι αυτούς εν τη οδώ και τον στύλον του πυρός την νύκτα φωτίζειν αυτοίς την οδόν εν η πορεύσονται εν αυτή
20And thou gavest thy good Spirit to instruct them, and thou didst not withhold thy manna from their mouth, and gavest them water in their thirst.	και το πνεύμά σου το αγαθόν έδωκας συνετίσαι αυτούς και το μάννα ουκ αφυστέρησας από στόματος αυτών και ύδωρ έδωκας αυτοίς εν τη δίψη αυτών
21And thou didst sustain them forty years in the wilderness; thou didst not allow anything to fail them: their garments did not wax old, and their feet were not bruised.	και τεσσαράκοντα έτη διέθρεψας αυτούς εν τη ερήμω ουχ υστέρησας αυτοίς ουδέν ιμάτια αυτών ουκ επαλαιώθησαν και υποδήματα αυτών ου διερράγησαν
22Moreover, thou gavest them kingdoms, and didst divide nations to them: and they inherited the land of Seon king of Esebon, and the land of Og king of Basan.	και έδωκας αυτούς βασιλείας και λαούς διεμέρισας αυτοίς και εκληρονόμησαν την γην Σηών βασιλέως Εσεβών και την γην Ωγ βασιλέως του Βασάν
23And thou didst multiply their children as the stars of heaven, and broughtest them into the land of which thou spokest to their fathers;	και τους υιούς αυτών επλήθυνας ως τους αστέρας του ουρανού και εισήγαγες αυτούς εις την γην ην είπας τοις πατράσιν αυτών του εισελθείν και εκληρονομήσαι
24And they inherited it: and thou didst destroy from before them the dwellers in the land of the Chananites, and thou gavest into their hands them and their kings, and the nations of the land, to do unto them as it pleased them.	και εισήλθον υιοί αυτών και εκληρονόμησαν την γην και εξέτριψας ενώπιον αυτών τους κατοικούντας την γην των Χαναναίων και έδωκας αυτούς εις τας χείρας αυτών και τους βασιλείς αυτών και τους λαούς της γης ποιήσαι αυτοίς ως αρεστόν ενώπιον αυτών
25And they took lofty cities, and inherited houses full of all good things, wells dug, vineyards, and oliveyards, and every fruit tree in abundance: so they ate, and were filled, and grew fat, and rioted in thy great goodness.	και κατελάβοντο πόλεις υψηλάς και γην πίονα και εκληρονόμησαν οικίας πλήρεις πάντων αγαθών λάκκους λελατομημένους αμπελώνας και ελαιώνας και παν ξύλον βρώσιμον εις πλήθος και έφαγον και ενεπλήσθησαν και ελιπάνθησαν και ετρύφησαν εν αγαθωσύνη σου τη μεγάλη
26But they turned, and revolted from thee, and cast thy law behind their backs; and they slew thy prophets, who testified against them to turn them back to thee, and they wrought great provocations.	και ήλλαξαν και απέστησαν από σου και έρριψαν τον νόμον σου οπίσω σώματος αυτών και τους προφήτας σου απέκτειναν οι διεμαρτύραντο εν αυτοίς επιστρέψαι αυτούς προς σε και εποίησαν παροργισμούς μεγάλους
27Then thou gavest them into the hand of them that afflicted them, and they did afflict them: and they cried to thee in the time of their affliction, and thou didst hear them from thy heaven, and in thy great compassions gavest them deliverers, and didst save them from the hand of them that afflicted them.	και έδωκας αυτούς εν χειρί θλιβόντων αυτούς και έθλιψαν αυτούς και ανεβόησαν προς σε εν καιρώ θλίψεως αυτών και συ εξ ουρανού σου ήκουσας και εν οικτιρμοίς σου τοις μεγάλοις έδωκας αυτοίς σωτήρας και έσωσας αυτούς εκ χειρός θλιβόντων αυτούς
28But when they rested, they did evil again before thee: so thou leftest them in the hands of their enemies, and they ruled over them: and they cried again to thee, and thou heardest them from heaven, and didst deliver them in thy great compassions.	και ως ανεπαύσαντο επέστρεψαν ποιήσαι το πονηρόν ενώπιόν σου και εγκατέλιπες αυτούς εις χείρας εχθρών αυτών και κατήρξαν εν αυτοίς και πάλιν ανεβόησαν προς σε και συ εξ ουρανού εισήκουσας και ερρύσω αυτούς εν οικτιρμοίς σου πολλοίς
29And thou didst testify against them, to bring them back to thy law: but they hearkened not, but sinned against thy commandments and thy judgments, which if a man do, he shall live in them; and they turned their back, and hardened their neck, and heard not.	και επεμαρτύρω αυτοίς επιστρέψαι αυτούς εις τον νόμον σου αυτοί δε υπερηφανεύσαντο και ουκ ήκουσαν των εντολών σου και εν τοις κρίμασί σου ήμαρτον α ποιήσας αυτά άνθρωπος ζήσεται εν αυτοίς και έδωκαν νώτον απειθούντα και τράχηλον αυτών εσκλήρυναν και ουκ ήκουσαν
30Yet thou didst bear long with them many years, and didst testify to them by thy Spirit by the hand of thy prophets: but they hearkened not; so thou gavest them into the hand of the nations of the land.	και εμακροθύμησας επ΄ αυτούς έτη πολλά και είλκυσας επ΄ αυτούς έτη πολλά και επεμαρτύρω αυτοίς εν πνεύματί σου εν χειρί προφητών σου και ουκ ηνωτίσαντο και έδωκας αυτούς εν χειρί λαών της γης
31But thou in thy many mercies didst not appoint them to destruction, and didst not forsake them; for thou art strong, and merciful, and pitiful.	και συ εν οικτιρμοίς σου τοις πολλοίς ουκ εποίησας αυτούς εις συντέλειαν και ουκ εγκατέλιπες αυτούς ότι ισχυρός ει και ελεήμων και οικτίρμων
32And now, O our God, the powerful, the great, the mighty, and the terrible, keeping thy covenant and thy mercy, let not all the trouble seem little in thy sight which has come upon us, and our kings, and our princes, and our priests, and our prophets, and our fathers, and upon all thy people, from the days of the kings of Assur even to this day.	και νυν ο θεός ημών ο ισχυρός ο μέγας ο κραταιός και φοβερός φυλάσσων την διαθήκην σου και το έλεός σου μη ολιγωθήτω ενώπιόν σου πας ο μόχθος ος εύρεν ημάς και τους βασιλείς ημών και τους άρχοντας ημών και τους ιερείς ημών και τους προφήτας ημών και τους πατέρας ημών και εν παντί τω λαώ σου από ημερών βασιλέων Ασσούρ και έως της ημέρας ταύτης
33But thou art righteous in all the things that come upon us; for thou hast wrought faithfully, but we have greatly sinned.	και συ δίκαιος ει επί πάσι τοις ερχομένοις εφ΄ ημάς ότι αλήθειαν εποίησας και ημείς εξημάρτομεν
34And our kings, and our princes, and our priests, and our fathers, have not performed thy law, and have not given heed to thy commandments, and have not kept thy testimonies which thou didst testify to them.	και οι βασιλείς ημών και οι άρχοντες ημών και οι ιερείς ημών και οι πατέρες ημών ουκ εποίησαν τον νόμον σου και ου προσέσχον τας εντολάς σου και τα μαρτύριά σου α διεμαρτύρω αυτοίς
35And they did not serve thee in thy kingdom, and in thy great goodness which thou gavest to them, and in the large and fat land which thou didst furnish before them, and they turned not from their evil devices.	και αυτοί εν βασιλεία σου και εν αγαθωσύνη σου τη πολλή η έδωκας αυτοίς και εν τη γη τη πλατεία και λιπαρά η έδωκας ενώπιον αυτών ουκ εδούλευσάν σοι και ουκ απέστρεψαν από επιτηδευμάτων αυτών των πονηρών
36Behold, we are servants this day, and as for the land which thou gavest to our fathers to eat the fruit of it and the good things of it, behold, we are servants upon it:	ιδού εσμέν σήμερον δούλοι και η γη ην έδωκας τοις πατράσιν ημών φαγείν τον καρπόν αυτής και τα αγαθά αυτής και ιδού εσμέν δούλοι επ΄ αυτής
37and its produce is abundant for the kings whom thou didst appoint over us because of our sins; and they have dominion over our bodies, and over our cattle, as it pleases them, and we are in great affliction.	και οι καρποί αυτής οι πολλοί εγένοντο τοις βασιλεύσιν ους έδωκας εφ΄ ημάς εν αμαρτίαις ημών και επί τα σώματα ημών εξουσιάζουσι και εν κτήνεσιν ημών ως αρεστόν αυτοίς και εν θλίψει μεγάλη εσμέν
38And in regard to all these circumstances we make a covenant, and write it, and our princes, our Levites, and our priests, set their seal to it.	και εν πάσι τούτοις ημείς διατιθέμεθα πίστιν και γράφομεν και επισφραγίζουσιν άρχοντες ημών Λευίται ημών ιερείς ημών

1And over them that sealed were Neemias the Artasastha, son of Achalia, and Zedekias,	και επί των σφραγιζόντων Νεεμίας Αρτασασθά υιός Αχαλία και Σεδεκίας
2the son of Araea, and Azaria, and Jeremia,	υιός Αραϊα και Αζαρίας και Ιερεμίας
3Phasur, Amaria, Melchia,	Φασούρ Αμαρίας Μελχίας
4Attus, Sebani, Maluch,	Άττους Σεβανί Ηράμ Μαλούχ
5Iram, Meramoth, Abdia,	Μεραμώθ Αβδία

28And the rest of the people, the priests, the Levites, the porters, the singers, the Nathinim, and every one who drew off from the nations of the land to the law of God, their wives, their sons, their daughters, every one who had knowledge and understanding,	και οι κατάλοιποι του λαού οι ιερείς οι Λευίται οι πυλωροί οι άδοντες οι Ναθηνείμ και πάντες διαχωρισθέντες από των λαών της γης προς νόμον του θεού γυναίκες αυτών υιοί αυτών θυγατέρες αυτών πας ο ειδώς και συνιών
29were urgent with their brethren, and bound them under a curse, and entered into a curse, and into an oath, to walk in the law of God, which was given by the hand of Moses, the servant of God; to keep and to do all the commandments of the Lord, and his judgments, and his ordinances;	ενίσχυον επί τους αδελφούς αυτών και κατηράσαντο αυτούς και εισήλθον εν αρά και εν όρκω του πορεύεσθαι εν νόμω του θεού ος εδόθη εν χειρί Μωυσή δούλου του θεού φυλάσσεσθαι και ποιείν πάσας τας εντολάς κυρίου του θεού ημών και τα κρίματα αυτού και τα προστάγματα αυτού
30and that we will not, they said, give our daughters to the people of the land, nor will we take their daughters to our sons.	και του μη δούναι θυγατέρας ημών τοις λαοίς της γης και τας θυγατέρας αυτών ου ληψόμεθα τοις υιοίς ημών
31And as for the people of the land who bring wares and all manner of merchandise to sell on the sabbath-day, we will not buy of them on the sabbath or on the holy day: and we will leave the seventh year, and the exaction of every debt.	και λαοί της γης οι φέροντες τους αγορασμούς και πάσαν πράσιν εν ημέρα του σαββάτου αποδόσθαι ουκ αγοράσομεν παρ΄ αυτών εν σαββάτω και εν ημέρα αγία και αναβήσομεν το έτος το έβδομον και απαίτησιν πάσης χειρός
32And we will impose ordinances upon ourselves, to levy on ourselves the third part of a didrachm yearly for the service of the house of our God;	και στήσομεν εφ΄ ημάς εντολάς δούναι εφ΄ ημάς τρίτον του διδράχμου κατ΄ ενιαυτόν εις δουλείαν οίκου του θεού ημών
33the shewbread, and the continual meat-offering, and for the continual whole-burnt-offering, of the sabbaths, of the new moon, for the feast, and for the holy things, and the sin-offerings, to make atonement for Israel, and for the works of the house of our God.	εις άρτους του προσώπου και θυσίαν του ενδελεχισμού και εις ολοκαύτωμα του ενδελεχισμου των σαββάτων των νουμηνιών εις τας εορτάς και εις τα άγια και τα περί αμαρτίας εξιλάσασθαι περί Ισραήλ και εις έργα οίκου του θεού ημών
34And we cast lots for the office of wood-bearing, we the priests, and the Levites, and the people, to bring wood into the house of our God, according to the house of our families, at certain set times, year by year, to burn on the altar of the Lord our God, as it is written in the law:	και κλήρους εβάλομεν περί των δώρων ξυλοφορίας οι ιερείς και οι Λευίται και ο λαός ενέγκαι εις οίκον θεού ημών εις οίκους πατριών ημών εις καιρούς από χρόνων ενιαυτόν κατ΄ ενιαυτόν εκκαύσαι επί το θυσιαστήριον κυρίου του θεού ημών ως γέγραπται εν τω νόμω
35and to bring the first-fruits of our land, and the first-fruits of the fruit of every tree, year by year, into the house of the Lord:	και ενέγκαι τα πρωτογεννήματα της γης ημών και πρωτογεννήματα καρπού παντός ξύλου ενιαυτόν κατ΄ ενιαυτόν εις οίκον κυρίου
36the first-born of our sons, and of our cattle, as it is written in the law, and the first-born of our herds and of our flocks, to bring to the house of our God, for the priests that minister in the house of our God.	και τα πρωτότοκα υιών ημών και κτηνών ημών ως γέγραπται εν τω νόμω και τα πρωτότοκα των βοών ημών και ποιμνίων ημών ενέγκαι εις οίκον θεού ημών τοις ιερεύσι τοις λειτουργούσιν εν οίκω θεού ημών
37And the first-fruits of our corn, and the fruit of every tree, of wine, and of oil, will we bring to the priests to the treasury of the house of God; and a tithe of our land to the Levites: for the Levites themselves shall receive tithes in all the cities of the land we cultivate.	και την απαρχήν σίτων ημών και τας απαρχάς ημών και τον καρπόν παντός ξύλου οίνου και ελαίου οίσομεν τοις ιερεύσιν εις το γαζοφυλάκια οίκου του θεού ημών και δεκάτας γης ημών τοις Λευίταις και αυτοί οι Λευίται δεκατούντες εν πάσαις πόλεσι δουλείας ημών
38And the priest the son of Aaron shall be with the Levites in the tithe of the Levite: and the Levites shall bring up the tenth part of their tithe to the house of our God, into the treasuries of the house of God.	και έσται ο ιερεύς υιός Ααρών μετά των Λευιτών εν τη δεκάτη των Λευιτών και οι Λευίται ανοίσουσι την δεκάτην της δεκάτης εις οίκον θεού ημων εις γαζοφυλάκιον οίκου του θησαυρού
39For the children of Israel and the children of Levi shall bring into the treasuries the first-fruits of the corn, and wine, and oil; and there are the holy vessels, and the priests, and the ministers, and the porters, and the singers: and we will not forsake the house of our God.	ότι εις τους θησαυρούς εισοίσουσιν οι υιοί Ισραήλ και υιοί του Λευί τας απαρχάς του σίτου και του οίνου και του ελαίου και εκεί σκεύη τα άγια και οι ιερείς οι λειτουργοί και οι πυλωροί και οι άδοντες και ουκ εγκαταλείψομεν τον οίκον του θεού ημών

Chapter 11

1And the chiefs of the people dwelt in Jerusalem: and the rest of the people cast lots, to bring one of every ten to dwell in Jerusalem the holy city, and nine parts in the other cities.	και εκάθισαν οι άρχοντες του λαού εν Ιερουσαλήμ και οι κατάλοιποι του λαού έβαλον κλήρους ενέγκαι ένα από των δέκα καθίσαι εν Ιερουσαλήμ τη πόλει τη αγία και εννέα μέρη εν ταις πόλεσι
2And the people blessed all the men that volunteered to dwell in Jerusalem.	και ευλόγησεν ο λαός πάντας τους άνδρας τους εκουσιαζομένους καθίσαι εν Ιερουσαλήμ
3Now these are the chiefs of the province who dwelt in Jerusalem, and in the cities of Juda; every man dwelt in his possession in their cities: Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the Nathinim, and the children of the servants of Solomon.	και ούτοι οι άρχοντες της χώρας οι εκάθισαν εν Ιερουσαλήμ και εν πόλεσιν Ιούδα εκάθισαν ανήρ εν κατασχέσει αυτού εν πόλεσιν αυτών Ισραήλ οι ιερείς και οι Λευίται και οι Ναθιναίοι και οι υιοί δούλων Σολομώντος
4And there dwelt in Jerusalem some of the children of Juda, and of the children of Benjamin. Of the children of Juda; Athaia son of Azia, the son of Zacharia, the son of Samaria, the son of Saphatia, the son of Maleleel, and some of the sons of Phares;	και εν Ιερουσαλήμ εκάθισαν από υιών Ιούδα και από υιών Βενιαμίν από υιών Ιούδα Αθεέ υιός Οζία υιός Ζαχαρίας υιός Σαμαρία υιός Σαφατία υιός Μαλελιήλ και από των υιών Φαρές
5and Maasia son of Baruch, son of Chalaza, son of Ozia, son of Adaia, son of Joarib, son of Zacharias, son of Seloni.	Μαασία υιός Βαρούχ υιός Χαλαζά υιός Οζιά υιός Αδαϊα υιός Ιωαρείβ υιός Ζαχαρίου υιός του Σηιλονί
6All the sons of Phares who dwelt in Jerusalem were four hundred and sixty-eight men of might.	πάντες υιοί Φαρές οι καθήμενοι εν Ιερουσαλήμ τετρακόσιοι εξηκονταοκτώ άνδρες δυνάμεως
7And these were the children of Benjamin; Selo son of Mesulam, son of Joad, son of Phadaia, son of Coleia, son of Maasias, son of Ethiel, son of Jesia.	και ούτοι οι υιοί Βενιαμίν Σηλώμ υιός Μεσουλάμ υιός Ιωάδ υιός Φαδαϊα υιός Κωλεία υιός Μαασίου υιός Εθιήλ υιός Ιεσσεία
8And after him Gebe, Seli, nine hundred and twenty-eight.	και οπίσω αυτού Γεβουέ Σηλεεϊ εννακόσιοι εικοσιοκτώ

11Saraia, son of Elchia, son of Mesulam, son of Sadduc, son of Marioth, son of Aetoth, was over the house of God.	Σαρέας υιός Ελχία υιός Μεσουλάμ υιός Σαδδούκ υιός Μαριώθ υιός Ααχιτώβ ηγούμενος οίκου του θεού
12And their brethren doing the work of the house were eight hundred and twenty-two: and Adaia son of Jeroam, son of Phalalia, son of Amasi, son of Zacharia, son of Phassur, son of Melchia,	και αδελφοί αυτών ποιούντες το έργον του οίκου οκτακόσιοι εικοσιδύο και Αδαϊα υιός Ιεροάμ υιόυ Φαλαλία υιόυ ναμασί υιόυ Ζαχαρία υιόυ Φασούρ υιόυ Μελχία
13and his brethren, chiefs of families, two hundred and forty-two: and Amasia son of Esdriel, son of Mesarimith, son of Emmer,	και αδελφοί αυτού άρχοντες πατριών διακόσιοι τεσσαρακονταδύο και Αμασαϊ υιός Εσριήλ υιόυ Σακχίου υιόυ Μασαλιμώθ υιόυ Εμμήρ
14and his brethren, mighty men of war, a hundred and twenty-eight: and their overseer was Badiel son of one of the great men.	και αδελφοί αυτού δυνατοί παρατάξεως εκατόν εικοσιοκτώ και επίσκοπος επ΄ αυτούς Ζεχριήλ υιός των μεγάλων
15And of the Levites; Samaia, son of Esricam,	και από των Λευιτών Σαμαϊα υιός Ασούβ υιόυ Εσρικάμ υιόυ Ασαβία υιόυ Βοννά
16Matthanias son of Micha, and Jobeb son of Samui,	και Σαββαθαίος και Ιωσαβάδ επί τα έργα του οίκου του θεού εξωτάτου και από των αρχόντων των Λευιτών
17two hundred and eighty-four.	και Ματθανίας υιός Μιχά υιός Ζεχρεί υιόυ Ασάβ άρχων του αίνου και Ιούδας της προσευχής και Βοκχείας δεύτερος εκ των αδελφών αυτού και Αβδίας υιός Σαμαϊου υιόυ Γαλέλ υιόυ Ιδιθούν
18And the porters; Acub, Telamin, and their brethren, a hundred and seventy-two.	πάντες οι Λευίται εν τη πόλει τη αγία διακόσιοι ογδοηκοντατέσσαρες
19And the overseer of the Levites was the son of Bani, son of Ozi, son of Asabia, the son of Micha. Of the sons of Asaph the singers some were over the house of God,	και οι πυλωροί Ακούβ Τελαμίν και οι αδελφοί αυτών οι φυλάσσοντες εν ταις πύλαις εκατόν εβδομηκονταδύο
20For so was the king's commandment concerning them.	το δε λοιπόν του Ισραήλ και οι ιερείς και οι Λευίται εν πάσαις ταις πόλεσι της Ιουδαίας ανήρ εν τη κληρονομία αυτού
21And Phathaia son of Baseza was in attendance on the king in every matter for the people,	και οι Ναθιναίοι οι κατώκησαν εν Οφλά και Σιαά και Γεσφάς από των Ναθναίων
22and with regard to villages in their country district: and some of the children of Juda dwelt in Cariatharboc,	και επίσκοπος Λευιτών εν Ιερουσαλήμ Οζεϊ υιός Βανί υιόυ Σαβία υιόυ Μαθθανίου υιόυ Μιχά από υιών Ασάφ των αδόντων απέναντι έργου οίκου του θεού
23and in Jesu,	ότι εντολή του βασιλέως επ΄ και διέμενεν εν πίστει επί τοις ωδοίς λόγος εκάστης ημέρας εν τη ημέρα αυτού
24and in Bersabee:	και Φαθαϊα υιός Μασσιζαβήλ από των υιών Ζάρα υιόυ Ιούδα προς χείρα του βασιλέως εις πάντα λόγον τω λαώ
25And their villages were Lachis and her hands: and they pitched their tents in Bersabee.	και προς τας επαύλεις εν αγρώ αυτών και από υιών Ιούδα εκάθισαν εν Καριαθαρβώγ και εν ταις θυγατράσιν αυτής και εν Δαιβών και εν ταις θυγατράσιν αυτής και εν Καβσεήλ και εν ταις αυλαίς αυτής
26And the children of Benjamin dwelt from Gabaa to Machmas.	και εν Ιησού και εν Μωλαδά και εν Βηθφαλάτ
27And of the Levites there were divisions to Juda and to Benjamin.	και εν Ασερσωάλ και εν Βηρσαβεαί και ταις θυγατράσιν αυτής
28	και εν Σεκελάγ και εν Μαβνή και εν ταις θυγατράσιν
29	και εν Ρεμαών και εν Σαρά και εν Ιεριμούθ
30	και εν Ζαννοά και Οδολλάμ και ταις επαύλεσιν αυτών και εν Λαχείς και τοις αγροίς αυτής και εν Αζηκά και εν ταις θυγατράσιν αυτής και παρενεβάλοσαν εν Βηρσαβεαί έως φάραγγος Εννόμ

Chapter 12

1Now these are the priests and the Levites that went up with Zorobabel the son of Salathiel and Jesus: Saraia, Jeremia, Esdra,	και ούτοι οι ιερείς και οι Λευίται οι αναβάντες μετά Ζοροβάβελ υιόυ Σαλαθιήλ και Ιησού Σαραϊα Ιερεμίας Έσδρας
2Amaria, Maluch,	Αμαρίας Μαλούχ Αττούς
3Sechenia.	Σεχενίας Ρεούμ Μαρειμώθ
4These were the chiefs of the priests, and their brethren in the days of Jesus.	Αδαϊας Γεναθών Αβίας
5And the Levites were, Jesus, Banui, Cadmiel, Sarabia, Jodae, Matthania: he was over the bands,	Μιαμείν Μααδίας Βελγάς
6and his brethren were appointed to the daily courses.	Σεμεϊας Ιωιαρείβ Ιδεϊας
7And Jesus begot Joakim, and Joakim begot Eliasib, and Eliasib begot Jodae,	Σαλού Αμούκ Χελκείας Ωδουϊας ούτοι οι άρχοντες των ιερέων και αδελφοί αυτών εν ημέραις Ιησού
8and Jodae begot Jonathan, and Jonathan begot Jadu.	και οι Λευίται Ιησούς Βανουϊ Καδμιήλ Σαραβίας Ιωδαέ Ματθανίας επί των εξομολογήσεων αυτός και οι αδελφοί αυτού
9And in the days of Joakim, his brethren the priests and the heads of families were, belonging to Saraia, Amaria; to Jeremia, Anania;	και Βακβακίας και Αναϊ οι αδελφοί αυτών απέναντι αυτών εις τας εφημερίας

19The Levites in the days of Eliasib, Joada, and Joa, and Joanan, and Idua, were recorded heads of families: also the priests, in the reign of Darius the Persian.	τω Ιωαρείβ Μαθαναϊ τω Ιδίω Οζί
20And the sons of Levi, heads of families, were written in the book of the chronicles, even to the days of Joanan son of Elisue.	τω Σαλαϊ Καλλαϊ τω Αμούκ Αβέδ
21And the heads of the Levites were Asabia, and Sarabia, and Jesu: and the sons of Cadmiel, and their brethren over against them, were to sing hymns of praise, according to the commandment of David the man of God, course by course.	τω Ελκία Ασαβία τω Οδουϊα Ναθαναήλ
22When I gathered the porters,	οι Λευίται εν ημέραις Ελιασίβ Ιωάδα και Ιωά και Ιωανάν και Ιδουά γεγραμμένοι άρχοντες των πατριών και οι ιερείς εν βασιλεία Δαρείου του Πέρσου
23it was in the days of Joakim son of Jesus, son of Josedec, and in the days of Neemia: and Esdras the priest was scribe.	υιοί δε Λευί άρχοντες των πατριών γεγραμμένοι επί βιβλίου λόγων των ημερών και έως ημερών Ιωνάν υιόυ Ελιασούβ
24And at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem they sought the Levites in their places, to bring them to Jerusalem, to keep a feast of dedication and gladness with thanksgiving, and they sounded cymbals with songs, and had psalteries and harps.	και οι άρχοντες των Λευιτών Ασαβίας και Σαραβίας και Ιησού και οι υιοί Καδμιήλ και αδελφοί αυτών κατέναντι αυτών εις το αινείν και εξομολογείσθαι εν εντολή Δαυίδ ανθρώπου του θεού εφημερία προς εφημερίαν
25And the sons of the singers were assembled both from the neighbourhood round about to Jerusalem, and from the villages,	Μαθθανίας και Βακβακίας Αβδείας Μοσολάμ Τελμών Ακκούβ φυλάσσοντες πυλωροί φυλακής εν τω συναγαγείν με τους πυλωρούς
26and from the country: for the singers built themselves villages by Jerusalem.	ούτοι εν ημέραις Ιωακείμ υιόυ Ιησού υιόυ Ιωσεδέκ και εν ημέραις Νεεμία του άρχοντος και Έσδρας του ιερέως και γραμματέως
27And the priests and the Levites purified themselves, and they purified the people, and the porters, and the wall.	και εν εγκαινίοις τείχους Ιερουσαλήμ εζήτησαν τους Λευίτας εν τοις τόποις αυτών του ενέγκαι αυτούς εις Ιερουσαλήμ ποιήσαι εγκαίνια και ευφροσύνην και εν αινέσει και εν ωδαίς κυμβαλίζοντες και ψαλτήρια και κινύραις
28And they brought up the princes of Juda on the wall, and they appointed two great companies for thanksgiving, and they passed on the right hand on the wall of the dung-gate.	και συνήχθησαν οι υιοί των αδόντων και από της περιχώρου κυκλόθεν Ιερουσαλήμ και από επαύλεων του Νετωφατί
29And after them went Osaia, and half the princes of Juda,	και εν Βαιθγαλγάλ και από αγρών Γαβέαι και Ασμώθ ότι επαύλεις ωκοδόμησαν εαυτοίς οι άδοντες περικύκλω Ιερουσαλήμ
30and Azarias, and Esdras, and Mesollam,	και εκαθαρίσθησαν οι ιερείς και οι Λευίται και εκαθάρισαν τον λαόν και τας πύλας και το τείχος
31and Juda, and Benjamin, and Samaias and Jeremia.	και ανήνεγκαν τους άρχοντας Ιούδα επάνω του τείχους και έστησαν δύο περί αινέσεως μεγάλους και διήλθον εκ δεξιών του τείχους της πύλης της κοπρίας
32And some of the sons of the priest with trumpets, Zacharias son of Jonathan, son of Samaias, son of Matthania, son of Michaia, son of Zacchur, son of Asaph:	και επορεύθη οπίσω αυτών Ασαϊας και ήμισυ αρχόντων Ιούδα
33and his brethren, Samaia, and Oziel, Gelol, Jama, Aia, Nathanael, and Juda, Anani, to praise with the hymns of David the man of God; and Esdras the scribe was before them,	και Αζαρίας και Έσδρας και Μεσολάμ
34at the gate, to praise before them, and they went up by the steps of the city of David, in the ascent of the wall, above the house of David, even to the water-gate	και Ιούδας και Βενιαμίν και Σαμαϊας και Ιερεμίας
35of Ephraim, and to the fish-gate, and by the tower of Anameel, and as far as the sheep-gate.	και από των υιών των ιερέων εν σάλπιγξι Ζαχαρίας υιός Ιωνάθαν υιόυ Σαμαϊα υιόυ Ματθανία υιόυ Μαχαϊα υιόυ Ζακχούρ υιόυ Ασάφ
36And the singers were heard, and were numbered.	και αδελφοί αυτού Σαμαϊας και Εζριήλ Γελωλαϊ Μαϊα Ναθαναήλ και Ιούδας και Ανανί του αινείν εν σκεύεσιν ωδαίς Δαυίδ ανθρώπου θεού και Έσδρας ο γραμματεύς έμπροσθεν αυτών
37And in that day they offered great sacrifices, and rejoiced; for God had made them very joyful: and their wives and their children rejoiced: and the joy in Jerusalem was heard from afar off.	επί πύλης της πηγής κατέναντι αυτών ανέβησαν επί τοις κλίμακας πόλεως Δαυίδ εν αναβάσει του τείχους επάνωθεν του οίκου Δαυίδ και έως της πύλης του ύδατος κατ΄ ανατολάς
38And in that day they appointed men over the treasuries, for the treasures, the first-fruits, and the tithes, and for the chiefs of the cities who were assembled among them, to furnish portions for the priests and Levites: for there was joy in Juda over the priests and over the Levites that waited.	και περί αινέσεως η δευτέρα εξεπορεύετο συναντώσα αυτοίς και εγώ οπίσω αυτής και το ήμισυ του λαού επάνω του τείχους υπεράνω του πύργου των θεννουρίμ και έως του τείχους του πλατέος
39And they kept the charges of their God, and the charges of the purification, and ordered the singers and the porters, according to the commandments of David and his son Solomon.	και υπεράνω της πύλης Εφραϊμ και επί την πύλην την Εισιανά και επί την πύλην την ιχθυηράν και πύργον Αναμεήλ και από του πύργου του Μεά και έως της πύλης της προβατικής και έστησαν επί πύλην της φυλακής
40For in the days of David Asaph was originally first of the singers, and they sang hymns and praise to God.	και έστησαν αι δύο της αινέσεως εν οίκω του θεού και εγώ και το ήμισυ των στρατηγών μετ΄ εμού
41And all Israel in the days of Zorobabel, and in the days of Neemias, gave the portions of the singers and the porters, a daily rate: and consecrated them to the Levites: and the Levites consecrated them to the sons of Aaron.	και οι ιερείς Ελιακείμ Μαασίας Μιαμίν Μιχαϊας Ελιωηναϊ Ζαχαρίας Ανανίας εν σάλπιγξιν
42	και Μαασίας και Σεμεϊας Ελεάζαρ Οζί Ιωανάν Μελχίας και Αιλάμ και Ιεζούρ και ηκούσθησαν οι άδοντες και Ιεσρίας επίσκοπος
43	και έθυσαν εν τη ημέρα εκείνη θυσιάσματα μεγάλα και ηυφράνθησαν ότι ο θεός εύφρανεν αυτούς ευφροσύνη μεγάλη και αι γυναίκες αυτών και τα τέκνα αυτών ηυφράνθησαν και ηκούσθη η ευφροσύνη εν Ιερουσαλήμ μακρόθεν
44	και κατέστησαν εν τη ημέρα εκείνη άνδρας επί των γαζοφυλακίων τοις θησαυροίς ταις απαρχαίς και ταις δεκάταις του συναγαγείν εν αυτοίς από των αγρών των πόλεων μερίδας τοις ιερεύσι και τοις Λευίταις ότι ευφροσύνη ην εν Ιούδα και επί τους ιερείς και τους Λευίτας τους εστώτας
45	και εφύλαξαν φυλακήν του θεού αυτών και φυλακάς του καθαρισμού και τους άδοντας και τους πυλωρούς ως εντολαί Δαυίδ και Σολομώντος υιού αυτού
46	ότι εν ημέραις Δαυίδ και Ασάφ απ΄ αρχής πρώτος των αδόντων και ύμνον και αίνεσιν τω θεώ
47	και πας Ισραήλ εν ημέραις Ζοροβάβελ και εν ταις ημέραις Νεεμίου διδόντες μερίδας των αδόντων και των πυλωρών λόγον ημέρας εν ημέρα αυτού και αγιάζοντες τοις Λευίταις και οι Λευίται αγιάζοντες τοις υιοίς Ααρών

Chapter 13

1In that day they read in the book of Moses in the ears of the people; and it was found written in it, that the Ammonites and Moabites should not enter into the congregation of God for ever;	εν τη ημέρα εκείνη ανεγνώσθη εν βιβλίω Μωυσή εν ωσί του λαού και ευρέθη γεγραμμένον εν αυτώ όπως μη εισέλθωσιν Αμμανίται και Μωαβίται εν εκκλησία θεού έως αιώνος
2because they met not the children of Israel with bread and water, but hired Balaam against them to curse them: but our God turned the curse into a blessing.	ότι ου συνήντησαν τοις υιοίς Ισραήλ εν άρτω και ύδατι και εμισθώσαντο επ΄ αυτούς τον Βαλαάμ καταράσασθαι αυτούς και επέστρεψεν ο θεός ημών την κατάραν εις ευλογίαν
3And it came to pass, when they heard the law, that they were separated, even every alien in Israel.	και εγένετο ως ήκουσαν τον νόμον και εχωρίσθησαν πας επίμικτος εν Ισραήλ
4And before this time Eliasib the priest dwelt in the treasury of the house of our God, connected with Tobias;	και προ τούτου Ελιασίβ ο ιερεύς οίκων εν γαζοφυλακίω οίκου θεού ημων εγγιών Τωβία
5and he made himself a great treasury, and there they were formerly in the habit of bestowing the offerings, and the frankincense, and the vessels, and the tithe of the corn, and the wine, and the oil, the ordered portion of the Levites, and singers, and porters; and the first-fruits of the priests.	και εποίησεν αυτώ γαζοφυλάκιον μέγα και εκεί ήσαν πρότερον διδόντες την θυσίαν και τον λίβανον και τα σκεύη και την δεκάτην του σίτου και του οίνου και του ελαίου εντολήν των Λευιτών και των αδόντων και των πυλωρών και απαρχάς των ιερέων
6But in all this time I was not in Jerusalem; for in the thirty-second year of Arthasastha king of Babylon I came to the king, and after a certain time I made my request of the king;	και εν παντί τούτω ουκ ήμην εν Ιερουσαλήμ ότι εν έτει τριακοστώ και δευτέρω του Αρθασασθά βασιλέως Βαβυλώνος ήλθον προς τον βασιλέα και μετά το τέλος των ημερών ητησάμην παρά του βασιλέως
7and I came to Jerusalem, and I understood the mischief which Eliasib had done in the case of Tobias, in making for him a treasury in the court of the house of God.	και ήλθον εις Ιερουσαλήμ και συνήκα εν τη πονηρία η εποίησεν Ελιασίβ τω Τωβία ποιήσαι αυτώ γαζοφυλάκιον εν αυλή οίκου του θεού
8And it appeared very evil to me: so I cast forth all the furniture of the house of Tobias from the treasury.	και πονηρόν μοι εφάνη σφόδρα και έρριψα πάντα τα σκεύη οίκου Τωβία έξω από του γαζοφυλακίου
9And I gave orders, and they purified the treasuries: and I restored thither the vessels of the house of God, and the offerings, and the frankincense.	και είπα και εκαθάρισαν τα γαζοφυλάκια και επέστρεψα εκεί σκεύη οίκου του θεού την θυσίαν και τον λίβανον
10And I understood that the portion of the Levites had not been given: and they had fled every one to his field, the Levites and the singers doing the work.	και έγνων ότι μερίδες των Λευιτών ουκ εδόθησαν και έφυγον ανήρ εις αγρόν εαυτού οι Λευίται και οι άδοντες και ποιούντες το έργον
11And I strove with the commanders, and said, Wherefore has the house of God been abandoned? and I assembled them, and set them in their place.	και εμαχεσάμην τοις στρατηγοίς και είπον διατί εγκατελείφθη ο οίκος του θεού και συνήγαγον αυτούς και έστησαν αυτούς επί τη στάσει αυτών
12And all Juda brought a tithe of the wheat and the wine and the oil into the treasuries,	και πας Ιούδα ήνεγκαν δεκάτην του πυρού και του οίνου και του ελαίου εις τους θησαυρούς
13to the charge of Selemia the priest, and Sadoc the scribe, and Phadaea of the Levites: and next to them was Anan the son of Zacchur, son of Matthanias; for they were accounted faithful: it was their office to distribute to their brethren.	και ενετειλάμην επί χείρα Σελεμία του ιερέως και Σαδώκ του γραμματέως και Φαδαϊα από των Λευιτών και επί χείρα αυτών Ανάν υιός Ζακχούρ υιόυ Ματθανίου ότι πιστοί ελογίσθησαν επ΄ αυτούς μερίζειν τοις αδελφοίς αυτών
14Remember me, O God, in this, and let not my kindness be forgotten which I have wrought in regard to the house of the Lord God.	μνήσθητί μου ο θεός εν ταύτη και μη εξαλειφθή το έλεός μου ο εποίησα εν οίκω κυρίου του θεού μου και εν ταις φυλακαίς αυτού
15In those days I saw in Juda men treading wine-presses on the sabbath, and carrying sheaves, and loading asses with both wine, and grapes, and figs, and every kind of burden, and bringing them into Jerusalem on the sabbath-day:	εν ταις ημέραις εκείναις είδον εν Ιούδα πατούντας ληνούς εν τω σαββάτω και φέροντας δράγματα και επιγεμίζοντας επί τους όνους και οίνον και σταφυλήν και σύκα και παν βάσταγμα και φέροντας εις Ιερουσαλήμ εν ημέρα του σαββάτου και επεμαρτυράμην εν ημέρα πράσεως αυτών
16and I testified in the day of their sale. Also their dwelt in it men bringing fish, and selling every kind of merchandise to the children of Juda and in Jerusalem on the sabbath.	ότι επώλουν επισιτισμόν και οι Τύριοι και εκάθισαν εν αυτή φέροντες ιχθύν και πάσαν πράσιν πωλούντες εν τω σαββάτω τοις υιοίς Ιούδα και εν Ιερουσαλήμ
17And I strove with the free children of Juda, and said to them, What is this evil thing which ye do, and profane the sabbath-day?	και εκρίθην μετά των ελευθέρων Ιούδα και είπα αυτοίς τις ο λόγος ούτος ο πονηρός ον υμείς ποιείτε και βεβηλούτε την ημέραν του σαββάτου
18Did not your fathers thus, and our God brought upon them and upon us and upon this city all these evils? and do ye bring additional wrath upon Israel by profaning the sabbath?	ουχί ούτως εποίησαν οι πατέρες υμών και ήνεγκεν επ΄ αυτούς ο θεός ημών και εφ΄ ημάς πάντα τα κακά ταύτα και επί την πόλιν ταύτην και υμείς προστίθετε οργήν επί Ισραήλ βεβηλώσαι το σάββατον
19And it came to pass, when the gates were set up in Jerusalem, before the sabbath, that I spoke, and they shut the gates; and I gave orders that they should not be opened till after the sabbath: and I set some of my servants at the gates, that none should bring in burdens on the sabbath-day.	και εγένετο ηνίκα κατέστησαν πύλαι εν Ιερουσαλήμ προ του σαββάτου και είπα και έκλεισαν τας πύλας και είπα ώστε μη ανοιγήναι αυτάς έως οπίσω του σαββάτου και εκ των παιδαρίων μου έστησα επί τας πύλας ώστε μη αίρειν βαστάγματα εν ημέρα του σαββάτου
20So all the merchants lodged, and carried on traffic without Jerusalem once or twice.	και ηυλίσθησαν πάντες οι μετάβολοι και εποίησαν πράσιν έξω Ιερουσαλήμ άπαξ και δις
21Then I testified against them, and said to them, Why do ye lodge in front of the wall? if ye do so again, I will stretch out my hand upon you. From that time they came not on the sabbath.	και διεμαρτυράμην αυτοίς και είπον προς αυτούς διατί υμείς αυλίζεσθε απέναντι του τείχους εάν δευτερώσητε εκτενώ την χείρά μου εν υμίν από του καιρού εκείνου ουκ ήλθον εν σαββάτω
22and I told the Levites who were purifying themselves, and came and kept the gates, that they should sanctify the sabbath-day. Remember me, O God, for these things, and spare me according to the abundance of thy mercy.	και είπα τοις Λευίταις οι ήσαν καθαριζόμενοι και ερχόμενοι φυλάσσοντες τας πύλας αγιάζειν την ημέραν του σαββάτου προς ταύτα μνήσθητί μου ο θεός μου και φείσαί μου κατά το πλήθος του ελέους σου
23And in those days I saw the Jews who had married women of Ashdod, of Ammon, and of Moab:	και εν ταις ημέραις εκείναις είδον τους Ιουδαίους οι εκάθισαν γυναίκας Αζωτίας Αμμανίτιδας Μωαβίτιδας
24and their children spoke half in the language of Ashdod, and did not know how to speak in the Jewish language.	και οι υιοί αυτών ήμισυ λαλούσιν Αζωτιστί και ουκ εισίν επιγινώσκοντες λαλείν Ιουδαϊστι αλλά κατά γλώσσαν λαού και λαού
25And I strove with them and cursed them; and I smote some of them, and plucked off their hair, and made them swear by God, saying, Ye shall not give your daughters to their sons, and ye shall not take of their daughters to your sons.	και εμαχεσάμην μετ΄ αυτών και κατηρασάμην αυτούς και επάταξα εν αυτοίς άνδρας και εμαδάρωσα αυτούς και ώρκισα αυτούς εν τω θεώ αν δώτε τας θυγατέρας υμών τοις υιοίς αυτών και αν λήψεσθε των θυγατέρων αυτών τοις υιοίς υμών και εαυτοίς
26Did not Solomon king of Israel sin thus? though there was no king like him among many nations, and he was beloved of God, and God made him king over all Israel; yet strange women turned him aside.	ουχ ούτως ήμαρτε Σολομών βασιλεύς Ισραήλ και εν έθνεσι πολλοίς ουκ ην βασιλεύς όμοιος αυτώ και αγαπώμενος τω θεώ ην και έδωκεν αυτόν ο θεός εις βασιλέα επί πάντα Ισραήλ και τούτον εξέκλιναν αι γυναίκες αι αλλότριαι
27So we will not hearken to you to do all this evil, to break covenant with our God, —to marry strange wives.	και υμών μη ακούσωεν ποιήσαι την πονηρίαν ταύτην ασυνθετήσαι εν τω θεώ ημών και καθίσαι γυναίκας αλλοτρίας
28and Elisub the high priest, one of the sons of Joada, being son-in-law of Sanaballat the Uranite, I chased him away from me.	και από υιών Ιωαδά του Ελιασούβ του ιερέως του μεγάλου γαμβρός του Σαναβαλάτ του Ουρανίτου και εξέβρασα αυτόν απ΄ εμού
29Remember them, O God, for their false connection with the priesthood, and the breaking the covenant of the priesthood, and for defiling the Levites.	μνήσθητι αυτοίς ο θεός μου επί αγχιστεία της ιερατείας και την διαθήκη της ιερατείας και των Λευιτών
30So I purged them from all foreign connection, and established courses for the priests and the Levites, every man according to his work.	και εκαθάρισα αυτούς από πάσης αλλοτριώσεως και έστησα εφημερίας τοις ιερεύσι και τοις Λευίταις ανήρ ως το έργον αυτού
31And the offering of the wood-bearers was at certain set times, and in the times of the first-fruits. Remember me, O our God, for good.	και εις το δώρον των ξύλων εν καιροίς από χρόνων και εν τοις προτογεννήμασι μνήσθητί μου ο θεός ημών εις αγαθωσύνην
