Unspaced page end
[edit]Hi @GrammarPoliceOffical,
I just wanted to clarify that an unspaced page end, nor any other template, is needed at the end of Page:How to improve the memory (IA howtoimprovememo00lawr).pdf/42; a conventional hyphen correctly recombines the words within the fine block upon transclusion. While your removal of a hyphen and the inclusion of {{upe}} results in the transcluded work remaining unchanged, the individual proofread/validated page is then different from its source (because the hyphen was removed). This is not preferred in all except the most troublesome of cases, when minor modifications/movement of the text become the pragmatic solution. I hope that clarifies matters, but if not, or if you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

- Thank you for informing me. I wanted to contribute that day but did not have much time. I did not know that fine block fuctioned in that way. GrammarPoliceOffical (talk | contribs | user page) 20:07, 23 December 2024 (UTC)
Notes and Queries
[edit]Hello - I notice that you've removed a post from the talk page of Notes and Queries. I hope I didn't scare you off by my enthusiastic post there - what you said in your post seemed very sensible. Notes and Queries seems to be yet another project on WikiSource which has a *lot* of page images but basically no proofreading, and I'd love to see at least Volume 1 get properly proofread and processed. Given that periodicals seem to be my speciality (I also work quite a lot on Punch and The Strand Magazine) I'd like to add Notes and Queries to my collection of Sisyphean tasks!

- I have been thinking of removing my post for a while now, both because contributing to Note and Queries hasn't been at the front of my to-do list, and because adding rules to separate the sections is insignificant after transclusion. After looking back, it seemed that it did not matter whether or not they were added. You can rest assured that your post did not contribute to me deleting my post.
